Speaker 1:

Welcome to our channel. Today we will be making a simple and easy recipe for a delicious and delicious chicken salad. We will need 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. 1 cup of water. Outro Music.

Speaker 2:

Unbelievable the big house in Ann Arbor, michigan A burnt orange takeover, if you will. Stevie Lee, I don't know if I've heard or seen as many posts. I know social media, honestly, has really been hit its peak about 2009. But seeing the eyes of Texas in such great harmony as that in Ann Arbor, michigan, where I've heard fans say they had the best experience and the best fans they were nice, cordial and the best fans. They were nice, cordial. When you heard that and you saw all those people's video after Texas beat Michigan in the big house one of the historic, iconic venues what were your thoughts?

Speaker 3:

That was fun, man. It was fun to watch. I don't know man, it was really cool. And I heard that everyone was really nice and cordial, unlike Ohio State, when we went up there.

Speaker 2:

I've heard so many stories about that.

Speaker 3:

So that's a very nice historic stadium. You know, 102,000 people there in and for Texas to go in there do what they did and the way they did it. It was fantastic. It was put a big smile on my face yesterday.

Speaker 2:

That was great, beautiful. I've never been to Ann Arbor. I've been to a lot of stadiums across the country and that is not one. I'm jealous of our friends, some of our mutual friends. I'm jealous of our friends some of our mutual friends, Norm.

Speaker 2:

He went, but I'm happy for them. I'm really happy for everyone who got to experience that. But it seemed like a great trip and even our stories inside the man Cave sister, the Tess Sawyer. She made the trip Unbelievable. And I can't believe this, Stevie, as we're going to unbundle this whole Michigan story. That was only the second time that Texas and Michigan had played Really.

Speaker 3:

I may be wrong, but I think I'm right.

Speaker 2:

You may be wrong, but you think you're right.

Speaker 3:

So that means when I played them. When I played them, that was our first time seeing them, isn't that crazy? Yeah, okay, let's fact check that. Those are two-story programs. That's been around over a hundred years.

Speaker 1:

Well over a hundred.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, for us not to play each other. This is only the second time we need to change that and make something happen, you know?

Speaker 2:

I agree. So I think in two years they come play us in our stadium 27 or 26,.

Speaker 3:

Is that right? Next year will be 25.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so 26 okay, yeah we're gonna unbundle this and, uh, you know, burnt orange takeover of the big house. It was beautiful, it was fun to watch and I got we have a special question for you guys because I'm so curious.

Speaker 2:

I know stevie is as well, but welcome to episode 401. Uh, shocking to put that big assass number on there, but it's beautiful. I am Sean Clint. This is Stevie Lee, former Longhorn defensive tackle, and he's a positive guy and we all love. Both of us love when you follow us on social media, go to all those platforms, follow us. I need to do some work and catch up on TikTok. I have not done a good job on TikTok, stevie. It's just so many platforms but that's where everyone is and you know we love our sponsors, particularly for this series, and they're our friends and they are like a Stories Inside the man Cave family member, all the Hargroves and Coach Ab at the Hargrove Roofing Office off of Ashdale, the street I grew up on Beautiful. It's amazing how that works out.

Speaker 4:

But Stevie.

Speaker 2:

Lee says it best about Hargrove roofing.

Speaker 3:

Hargrove roofing know who's on your roof.

Speaker 2:

No doubt about it. Hey, while we're at it, that win, that 31-12, 19-point win over Michigan, ended a lot of streaks. Not only was Michigan the defending national champions they lost a lot of players on that team but our friend John Bianco, the legendary sports information director at UT. He highlighted the streaks that Texas ended 16 straight wins done, 23 straight home wins done 29 straight regular season wins. That was a Big 12, big 10 record and 15 straight non-conference wins and, last but not least, first non-conference home loss in over a decade. Whoa, texas put their name on it.

Speaker 3:

Took it down, man. Wow, wow, that's awesome. Hey, I didn't know all that man. That's good and that's good to go into someplace that hostile and to take down all those streaks off of them. That's big for the University of Texas and that football team, for their confidence going into the rest of this season.

Speaker 2:

Well, I think just by the body language I felt like Texas went in and it was very businesslike, unlike some teams in the past. Yeah, they were happy, but it didn't seem like it was that big of a deal for them. I love their demeanor in the tunnel when, when they went in, they were jacked. Obviously every team's jacked up and fired up, but very business-like approach. They just did their thing, so to speak. It's very surface level. Good stats provided by the John Bianco, who's been doing it since when he started. I had a lot of hair, stevie.

Speaker 2:

A lot of hair. Thank you, that was awesome to see those. But streaks congrats to Michigan man. They came back and they've had a good run and what it meant to the Michigan folks. Let's check in with Jerome Moore, who took over for the coach Harbaugh and this was Michigan after that loss to Texas for us it's a loss.

Speaker 5:

You know we. You haven't had one of these in a long time. So you definitely feel it. Our kids feel it. You know they feel it more than anybody, so definitely feel bad for them and how they feel. But we know on all sides of the ball, all three phases, phases. But we've got a lot to work on.

Speaker 2:

So it's hard to repeat, especially this day and age of NIL Portal and how so many programs have. They can increase their productivity with better talent. You just have a lot of programs who can win each year. Your thoughts real, real quick on Michigan. What do you foresee for them moving forward?

Speaker 3:

I see I think they got a lot of work to do. Man, yeah, they, they. Coach Harbaugh is gone. Now we see the importance of head coaches and being a heartbeat of the team. You know Alabama struggled against you, usc, you I'm sorry, usf yesterday, south Florida, yeah, yeah, south Florida yesterday. So they got a lot of work to do. He needs to make his mark on that team. He got to do it quick.

Speaker 2:

They really do. I see them as a seven or eight-win team, so they've got probably four or three more losses in. By the way, as we're recording and we'll talk about, the Dallas Cowboys just scored their first touchdown of the season. Hey, trey Weisner, we know the running back position has been a little depleted because of preseason injuries. It's unfortunate, but the depth is there. Really love to see this. And I think when Texas was up seven to three, I mean they jumped on Michigan quick, stevie.

Speaker 4:

And.

Speaker 2:

Trey Wisner out of the backfield, quinn Ewers, magic man, and I'm just trying to be positive and really execute the plan. But I think this play and I can't wait to have your feedback on it I think this play set the tone with the physicality of Texas and how more physical they are than they ever have been in such a long time. Trey Weisner he was going to get a few carries this year, but now he's receiving more. And you know Jaden Blue is the primary back. Knock that Michigan DB on the ground on his sideline. Tell the people who maybe have never played the game or maybe had limited experience playing the game delivering blows like that is so important early because it's up here, right yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so back in my younger days here, right, yeah, so back in my younger days. Yes, delivering a blow is what you want to do In the same breath, sean, I'm sorry man, you got to step out of bounds on the sideline though. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, dude, I'm sorry, but he's young and yes, we had to deliver a statement in the big house, and so he did that, and that's great. But you know, I was on a sideline in college and my tight end tried to do that, ripped his whole knee up. Oh no, yeah, so you got to be careful, especially in our running back position where we only have two left.

Speaker 2:

Now I understand that I agree. Yeah, you got to play a little more smarter because of the lack of depth.

Speaker 3:

And so I like where you're going, with it being physical and everything, and you have to be if he's in the middle of the field and that safety he's going one-on-one with the safety. Put your shoulder down and run over this guy, but when you're about to go out of bounds, anyway, save the hit. Do not go out there trying to drop your shoulder on the sideline. You know when. Yeah. So I get it. I get it, trusteline. I get it. I get it, trust me, I get it. It was impressive. I can only be who I am, sean. When I was watching the game I was like just get out of bounds, kid, don't do that Just get out of bounds, B John.

Speaker 2:

he always stepped out.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he stepped out. When B John's in the middle of the field, he'll drop his shoulder and run over you too.

Speaker 2:

Oh, he will. But to your point, between the tackles, between the tackles, I don't know how to sum up the game offensively. All I can say is that there were some big plays and the speed in which this offense operates, the tempo, is what I'm impressed with. I'm not saying they didn't have that tempo, but something's different. But here's what's crazy about this offense, stevie they only had 389 yards, but they were very efficient. And these are a little small, about 30, 35-second collection, a reel of those big offensive plays which we saw on Saturday up at the big house in Ann Arbor. Second and goal here's a handoff Gibson turns Touchdown Texas. You are sprinting out Squares throws Touchdown Texas. Matthew Golden, his career high in catches. Here's the reverse and it's Wingo still running. Ryan Wingo down inside the five Ewer, swings it out nearside blue touchdown Texas Swings it out Near side Blue Touchdown Texas. So sideline to sideline, off-balance defense. You pretty much have to guess as a defensive coordinator, correct? Am I off base?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, all those touchdowns you just showed were different people and you didn't even show the tight end. No, by the way, way.

Speaker 2:

I've got to give a shout out to gunner helm, and it's something that I have been thinking about since last year. He has developed and I didn't mean to interrupt you no man. He reminds me a lot of david thomas, not because he's white, um, but very reliable and gets open yeah and gets down in that crease. But he makes those catch almost for those who are old enough to remember very jay novacek-esque of those great dallas cowboy teams sorry, stevie, continue, you go, go for it.

Speaker 3:

Man. Now it's um. You're exactly right, man, you can. You, as a defensive person, defensive, um uh uh coordinator? Yeah, as a defensive person, defensive coordinator. As a defensive coordinator, you just got to pick your poison man because you got Wingo Wingo's fast, he's fast man, yeah. And then we got Bond, that can catch anything out of the air, it's just, it was so much. And Blue, it's just so he can spread it around so many different ways that you know, if you do try to stop one, we got three more guys that are going to gas you, you know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's, it's huge man. I mean it's just, it's listen the when people say, oh, we've got all these weapons, well, this is a team that literally does and so but the thing is that sark knows how to do it.

Speaker 2:

One thing I've got to ask you um the speed we've talked about and teams across the country are us seeing it and they know it, and I've seen a lot, I've read a lot and listened to lots of press conferences, player interviews from various programs across the country, and they all praise coach Sark and the development of his offense and the coordination of it. But we all know about the speed. But after this performance in this big time atmosphere, do you think Quinn is perhaps the best QB in the country right now?

Speaker 3:

I think that, yes, yes, he is definitely one of the best in the country. I think we need to look at a as a few more quarterbacks out there, but yeah, he he is. He should be top top three quarterbacks in the country, for sure, for sure I'm gonna be honest, stevie, I was a little hard on him I've been hard on him.

Speaker 3:

I'm still hard on him actually. Um, I still think that we need to work on the over the shoulder deep ball with him. You know that, everybody knows that. You know I say that all the time, but, um, when he sets his feet he's good and, uh, he can deliver the ball anywhere at any pinpoint area on the field when he sets his feet. Yeah, he still has to be reminded to set his feet sometimes, and what we did not see yet is someone hitting him while he's throwing.

Speaker 2:

He didn't get hit yesterday they kept him clean.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, the offensive line kept him real clean yesterday and maybe the offensive line do that every single time. But there's going to be some teams out there that's going to want to test that and send the house on them and he, you know, got to do really good with pre-snap tips and things like that. But if you put a man around his feet or a man in his face or hit him a couple times, we haven't seen what he'll do with that yet, right, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

It's empty. No, there's going to be some great SEC defensive coordinators who are going to throw the sink at him, so to speak. Right now I feel like Quinn Ewers is the best quarterback in the country because of how he executes the offense. He just he knows how to sell fakes, he scans, he knows. I mean, next time you, if you're watching this or listening, watch him. Just watch his eyes.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

How he's so fluid and scans in the second and third progression. It's beautiful man.

Speaker 3:

After you watch his eyes, ask yourself did he manage this Sharks offense or did he make some plays in Sharks offense?

Speaker 2:

He's doing more of it in two games than he did prior Yep. One thing you can't take away now these non-conference road games.

Speaker 2:

I mean Alabama last year they're cold-blooded out to cut the jugular, so to speak, and Sark was asked about that, as well as the players. But we'll start out with Sark. I kind of want to hear what you have to say, because this is becoming new to this Texas program that I haven't seen in forever. There is true swagger. They've been there, done that, now Bryant-Denny Stadium and now the big house. I'm probably leaving off a couple other ones, but those are the two big ones here recently. Those are hard places to go and win. And Sark I think it all starts with him and his confidence.

Speaker 6:

This is who we are, this is how we know how to play, and there's nothing better than going on the road and when you have great composure and you can play that way, when we can go in with the right mentality and we can embrace the challenge but also keep our mental intensity, but there's that fine line of not crossing overs.

Speaker 2:

Shout out to Bob Ballou's Twitter site for that soundbite. We love you, Bob. We love CBS Austin. Yeah, Eye on Austin. They're fine Americans over there, but it does start with him and that staff man. It's amazing what an individual can do. Talent can take you so far, but if you think you can and you get the reps and you practice and this goes in life too if you believe in yourself, he has everybody in that program believing you're the best in the country if you execute and learn.

Speaker 3:

Yep, yep, no, like I said, man, the head coach is the heartbeat of the team. Michigan lost theirs, alabama lost theirs. So it's a different heartbeat of the team. Michigan lost theirs, alabama lost theirs. It's a different heartbeat of the team and they have to figure it out. We got our heartbeat and he's strong. He's very strong at it. You're right, they are taking on his personality of this is who we are. We go in. It's going to be a hostile environment. We're going to take control over their environment and win.

Speaker 2:

No, it's beautiful and the big house was quiet. Quickly, it really was, but I think some of them kind of knew maybe that was happening. So we heard Sark. Here are the players on developing this mentality of going to these big stages of these historic, iconic college football venues and just staying within themselves, the hey, we don't care about the thousands who are against us, this is all that matters.

Speaker 4:

Right here, coming here and getting the job done definitely is a little different, but it still feels just about the same.

Speaker 1:

This is kind of what we do now, so obviously last year that kind of was the breakthrough for us.

Speaker 3:

But coming back and doing it again this year, coming on the road and beating the big team week two, I mean it just kind of complements this program and this culture.

Speaker 5:

Coach Sark's been in these games. He's been in these environments. So if you have a leader that's been there before and that knows what it takes, all we have to do is get behind Coach Sark, and then the rest will be history.

Speaker 2:

Good day, bar Aaron Pflugerville Connelly representing there. Great talent, great young man. I got to change the topic. Can we go ahead and say, or is it too early, you're a defensive guy who's also a positive guy, stevie Lee. But can we say this Texas defense is an elite defense.

Speaker 3:

We can, we can, they can do anything against our defense man. And that last touchdown. You go into someone like Michigan's house and hold them to only two field goals for 99% of the game. That's huge man. No touchdowns. We gave up one touchdown at the end of the game. The game was already in hand. They got that touchdown what with a minute something left in the game, less than two minutes left in the game. So that was. The game was already won. Their fans had already left the stadium, but holding them to, just holding them to 12 points At home, an elite team that won a national championship last year. We have an elite, top of the line, top tier defense. I think that they went to work when we lost the two interior linemen because they were the heartbeat of the defense right when those guys left they collectively the heartbeat of the defense, right yeah.

Speaker 3:

And when those guys left, they collectively said we're going to still be good y'all. And they went to work this offseason. They went to work in the weight room and on the field with running and they look good. So these guys, they took care of the nutrition. You know, when I went out there, man, I was like dude. These guys are jacked right now, dude. So you know, and that's what it takes to be a pro athlete. And so these guys are being treated like pros. They're getting their body, mind and health together like pros, man, and they look like it.

Speaker 2:

So they only gave up 204 yards passing. But here's the one again. So they shut down Colorado State's strength, which was passing. They just said all right, we'll give you the run if that's what we have to give up. They did that. They only allowed Michigan 80 yards rushing.

Speaker 3:

You can't win the game, doing that at all and forced them into three turnovers. Three turnovers, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Texas had zero, real quick. Before we move on to who the next opponent is. You played against Michigan in the Rose Bowl, first Rose Bowl with Vince. They had Chad Henney. Chad Henney, that quarterback, braylon Edwards, was that team stacked? I mean it was.

Speaker 3:

We heard a lot about Braylon Edwards that whole week and the quarterback can get it to Braylon Edwards at any moment of this, this and that and Braylon caught some good balls over us and he's pretty good and had a pretty good career in the league. But we had this kid named Vince Young man and he could take over a game whenever he needed to, whenever he wanted to, and that's exactly what he did. Got Dusty Mangum down there at close and Dusty goes and put it through the uprights. You know I say out of that game and that next year was the USC championship game. You know both of them were excited, but our game was more exciting the Michigan game in the Rose Bowl.

Speaker 2:

If you guys would not have knocked off Michigan, I don't think 2005 happens the way it did.

Speaker 3:

I hear you, I understand and I hear what you're saying, because Coach Brown said the same thing. Really, yeah. I think, he was just trying to make me feel better because I missed out on a national championship by one year. So he I think that he was just like uh, you started at stevie, he goes, and you're only two he's. I said congratulations, coach, on your national championship. He's like yeah, but you started at stevie and you're only 12 points away from doing the same thing.

Speaker 3:

Because that year we lost oklahoma 12-0 that year. The same thing because that year we lost Oklahoma 12-0 that year.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that's what we meant by that, and I was like.

Speaker 3:

Thank you, coach, but you know you got the ring.

Speaker 2:

I don't. You got an honorary ring.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, man.

Speaker 2:

All right, you know the cliche, you got to go 1-0. Yeah well 1-0 each week. That's the opponent from Michigan to the Roadrunners.

Speaker 3:

And that all starts with me and we've got to get it figured out. We're probably just going to play the best team in the country next week, on the road again, in an environment that's even crazier than that environment was.

Speaker 2:

So Jeff Traylor, friend of the program, fan of Stories Inside the man Cave podcast, great human being, fine American, done a great job with that program. At UTSA they took one on the chin, I think it's so. The I-35 series I think it's the first time that UTSA has lost to Texas State. I mean Texas State put it on them 49 to 10. That's what's shocking about all this.

Speaker 3:

Yeah man, that is shocking dude. I thought Texas San Antonio was. I thought that they were going out and do better than what they did against Texas State. But now let's not sleep on Texas State. They're a good football team. Yep, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

But 49-10, that's pretty tough.

Speaker 2:

I mean, UTSA has lost some really good players to the NFL or eligibility. The good quarterback they had for multiple years, Frank Harris, is no longer playing football, but I guarantee you they're going to come in here and give Texas a game. But did you hear what Coach Traylor said? The best team in the country? Yep.

Speaker 4:

I heard that.

Speaker 2:

I heard that that's wild. Well, speaking of Texas State, they've got something brewing, they really do. State They've got something brewing, they really do. And I really think Sand Marvelous is going to be a college football hotspot in a matter of time. Obviously a huge win just for the program. Really excited to get one in the win column versus those guys was important, right, huge in recruiting, huge for the university, huge for these guys. So huge crowd at Bobcat Stadium I think it's UFCU Bobcat Stadium. Now they got everything's corporate sponsorship now Huge crowd and GJ Kenny and that was who you saw speaking second year as a head coach at Texas State to beat UTSA, like that. And if you remember, one of the national college football writers said, because the playoffs have expanded to 12 and they're taking the conference champions.

Speaker 2:

They're part of the group of five. They say Texas State will get into the postseason.

Speaker 6:

What if? What if?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I hear you and it could happen um but um, yes, I'm a positive guy, sean all I'm gonna say the tailgating in san marcos shout out to that that beautiful college community.

Speaker 2:

I'm I'm an sfa guy, but san marcos is a beautiful college town and they've got a hell of an environment brewing there.

Speaker 3:

They're expanding their stadium as well, right.

Speaker 2:

It's over 30 grand. Now they have new facilities, I think, the training facility, the football offices. They won their first bowl game last year. That's huge.

Speaker 3:

I think if the Big 12 is smart, you know they should pick them up in the next five or ten years, maybe. Yeah, I think it's a little disheartening for me that there's only two Texas teams in the Big 12 now Texas Tech and Baylor TCU TCU, I'm sorry and Houston and Houston now so four. But Texas State can be there competing in the Big 12 as well if they keep building their program.

Speaker 2:

Potentially they're headed that way. I think they could. I mean they have one of the highest enrollments of schools in the country there's no doubt, and St Marcus is a destination.

Speaker 3:

Now, man, I think that you know, when you talk about cities with big, you know college cities. St Marcus is one of them. Oh, that's beautiful. Tell you what.

Speaker 2:

I've never been to DeKalb Illinois but man, you know they're celebrating, man, they upset Notre Dame and their head coach, former running back for Northern Illinois, now coach, and this was him very emotional after upsetting Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

Speaker 5:

Where is this emotion coming from for you?

Speaker 1:

You know, all these guys that have been with our program, been through the ups and downs, and they continue to fight Hell. Yeah, you know it's like they're my kids. I'm happy for the adversity, the push through. You know, no matter the situation, I just couldn't be more proud.

Speaker 2:

Love it, love it. He's invested it's his alma mater and win a big game. And Notre Dame beat Texas A&M last week in College Station.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I was kind of pissed at Notre Dame, you know, because they're going to start talking about this SEC stuff, right, the conference not being as good, but they go down to College Station, beat Texas A&M and then go home and lose to Northern Illinois. You know, so it was, but this is the reason why we love college football, man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, there's more parity, stevie. I mean there's more parity. Now, as I mentioned, the portal and NIL is affording other opportunities for that great talent to go other places I'm going to. The SEC is not having a great start. I mean, look at this, for example, oklahoma State beat Arkansas. This is just this week. Cal won at Auburn. Okay, I'm looking at another one you mentioned Alabama struggled early against South Florida, but they won.

Speaker 2:

Hey how about Florida Knocking off Stanford? Tennessee got a good win I'm just looking here to see if there's anything. And, of course, oklahoma who? Yeah, oh, arizona State beat Mississippi State. How about let's switch gears and talk about?

Speaker 3:

Well, one more thing, just real quick. Tennessee's going to be a problem.

Speaker 2:

Tennessee's a good team.

Speaker 3:

They are a good team man and they went in there in that Duke's Classic Bowl, whatever they call it, whatever Duke's Mayo, the Mayo Bowl.

Speaker 2:

Never had it before in my life, yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, exactly. Well, they went in there and handed one to NC State man.

Speaker 2:

The Wolfpack looked like an FCS program.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, no question. So are they that bad, or is Tennessee really that good and I think Tennessee's really that good, their quarterback's like I don't know, vince Young height.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yes, let's continue this conversation about the SEC.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6:

We certainly deserve to lose as well, but our guys did find a way you know, great job on the defensive play to create the safety Offense did a really nice job. Until you know, we lost our mind and didn't play with the discipline we deserve to lose.

Speaker 2:

Brent Venable second year as a head coach I think it's second year Said twice in an interview. We deserve to lose. Houston is not a good tackle football team right now. It doesn't mean they won't be later in the season, but OU struggled with them at home and I know Gaylord Memorial Stadium all too well. That is a special place to watch college football and rowdy and there's something about that place where OU teams play out of their minds. But for them to struggle you saw that graphic they had 249 total yards of offense. Are you concerned about OU? And secondly, is Jackson Arnold? Do you stick with him or do you bail on him already.

Speaker 3:

You can't bail on a quarterback right now, man, it's just too early to bail on a quarterback. But we do know that Houston gets up and play the big games. They're just not that good. I hear you, but we do know that Houston gets up and played the big games.

Speaker 4:

They gave us. They're not that good, stevie, they're just not that good.

Speaker 3:

I hear you. They played us really well last year. They almost beat us last year, yeah, and we were top three team in the no top. What did we end up last year? Four in the country? Yeah, yeah, we were four in the country. So it is kind of is what it is like they. They are really really good when it's when it's a big team to get up and play, and they did that with OU. Now I can't I don't want to say anything bad about OU until after the Red River shootout. You know it's a good point.

Speaker 2:

Let's not say anything, because those guys.

Speaker 3:

it's a rivalry game, man, it's a toss-up, you know. And so let's not underestimate OU just because Houston went in there and gave them a big game. Yeah, ou still walked out of there with a W.

Speaker 2:

Right, no they did.

Speaker 3:

Anytime you lace them up and get between the lines, it can happen, you know.

Speaker 2:

Anything can happen.

Speaker 3:

Anything can.

Speaker 2:

So it's week two. We do our own power 12 rankings and the four on the outside. Video you're about to see is the reveal, and you'll see last week first and this week. All right, Steven, we're going to bring it up full screen for us here too. You got to have a little drama. Everybody loves a little music with a beat there.

Speaker 2:

But Texas, in my opinion I know the AP, I released this before the AP came out I just want to take responsibility for that. I do think Texas is justified to leapfrog Ohio State because Ohio State did what they took care of business, destroying their opponent. But Texas went into the big house and not only won, but won by double digits. But look at this Three of the five, SEC four and if he keeps going, Missouri, Tennessee I had to remove Michigan and put them on the four on the outside. And Stevie, I thought Oregon, man they have, we'll get to that in a minute. But they struggled against Idaho in week one and had to rally back to beat Boise State on Saturday night. I just don't think they're top ten material. Meanwhile, Miami is starting to look like old Miami and USC, USC, they're right there.

Speaker 3:

I don't know if I would have dropped Michigan that far down.

Speaker 2:

They're not, I don't know, I would have dropped Michigan that far down.

Speaker 3:

They're not good. I don't know. I mean what were they ranked?

Speaker 2:

before Like 10 or 9.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, you're right, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

Or 7. I can't remember.

Speaker 3:

Oh, 9. 9. I believe they were 9. Right, one of those? Yeah, then yes, I think you're spot on. No, I don't have any problems with this list right now.

Speaker 4:

No.

Speaker 3:

You're looking good man.

Speaker 2:

The criteria is your opponent? Strength of schedule, margin of victory, margin of defeat and where you played, home or away. And just because a team maybe you beat or lost, doesn't mean you can't leapfrog them. This is power rating. This is not.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and that number seven, man, we got to look out for it. This is good, I liked it. I liked everything I saw last night.

Speaker 2:

It was fun watching games. And it's good to see the? U back in the mix too. Yeah, hey, k-state, look at K-State and Iowa State. Iowa State won the Seahawks trophy, the Battle of Iowa A lot of corn.

Speaker 3:

I don't know why they played their rivalry game so early in the year this year.

Speaker 2:

I don't either. I don't know why they played their rivalry game so early in the year. This year, I don't either. I don't know. It's ridiculous Bears to question. Oregon and OU are not who we thought they were yet, or are they both overrated? Ooh, I removed OU out even after the slim victory over Houston.

Speaker 3:

I think Oregon is overrated. For sure, there you go, yeah, but like I said, I'm not saying anything bad about OU until after the Red River shootout man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I got you. I got you. Hey, I want to move on Oklahoma State. I love Mike Gundy as a quote machine. He basically said social media is killing his ass. Well, they were asking. They struggled to beat Arkansas. Arkansas went up big in Stillwater and he's starting to have success by using the tight end, and maybe this was why he started using the tight end.

Speaker 6:

And social media is killing my ass. Gage tells me social media is all over me about not throwing to the tight end and my old man is all over me about not throwing to the tight end. My old man's all over me about not throwing to the tight end. I said, guys, we got to start throwing to the tight end.

Speaker 2:

A little media pressure, dad. Where's your ass at If you see enough tweets about it? You?

Speaker 3:

start throwing to the tight end then that's right.

Speaker 2:

Real quick before we hit the break. It's going to be a short first or last segment. Second and last segment. If you're not at the game, stevie, like a Texas game, how do you prefer to watch the game?

Speaker 3:

Dude on my couch. There's an intro of this show. That's me and my girl sitting on the couch. That's us watching a football game that day Beautiful. That's how I love watching sitting on the couch. That's us watching a football game that day Beautiful. That's how I love watching a game in that same spot. Whenever I'm not at the game, I would love to watch it right there on the couch just like that, with just my girls and my wife, or I can just even watch it by myself.

Speaker 2:

That's the way I do it If I'm not there. I do not like watching my team or teams at a bar. I don't like watching it with people who don't understand why I react the way they do, why I'm so fired up and I like to study the game, watch it with intent. I get a little loud sometimes.

Speaker 3:

And I like to rewind it sometimes and watch different steps. Like I'll watch the O-line step, I'll watch if they made a false step and things like that, and if I'm with a bunch of people and then they get annoying and then I can't do it like I want to and so I just rather be by myself.

Speaker 2:

I love it. I got to do it. You know would have been better with certain people, a couple. I watched it on my porch this Saturday, Got to have a game day on my porch Beverages over here.

Speaker 2:

Fan over here. Flat screen TV right here, Just nice, Perfect day. Yeah, Love college football game days. So that posed a question to you. You watching, listening. Tweet us at StoriesManCave If you're not at the game. How do you prefer to watch the game involving your team or team? We're curious. When we come back, we're going to hit a quick break. We're going to give a shout-out to our Hargrove Roofing family. Then it's opening Sunday in the NFL, even though it started on Thursday. We'll see you on the other side of this break.

Speaker 4:

Today is going to be an exciting day at the Hargrove office as we bring in a local celebrity. Welcome the kicking phenom, Bert Auburn. Conference champion of the Texas Longhorn football team, all-conference kicker. He's going to be our new spokesman. Bert's the best kicker in the conference. He plays for the Texas Longhorns, as you can see. You know Bert's awesome. Hey, Stevie.

Speaker 3:

Boo, you're really replacing me with a kicker?

Speaker 4:

No, no, not at all, man. Hey guys, who wants a picture with Stevie? Anyone. Stevie almost won a Big 12 championship, Hargrove Roofing Know who's on your roof?

Speaker 2:

Alright, stevie Lee, you saw the Dallas Cowboys. We're going to amp up, pick up the RPMs here as we're recording this episode, because we didn't want to interfere with game watching on the NFL. Dallas Cowboys are playing as we speak, but literally right before they took the field for warm-ups, they announced that they had signed quarterback Dak Prescott, making him the richest, highest-paid player in the league history, I think. Four years, $240 million, your thoughts $60 million a year.

Speaker 3:

$60 million a year, just keep saying it $60 million a year, man.

Speaker 2:

And not win playoff games.

Speaker 3:

Hey man Shout out to Dak Prescott, he's their guy. Yeah, he's their guy. They felt like they had to pay him, but he got to perform. Man, but I don't think that last year's playoff game was on his shoulders. You know, there are some other weapons that need to be put around him. So he is a great quarterback and his bank account reflects it.

Speaker 2:

Okay, season predictions. Start with you. Start with. Let's go back in order. How about the Texans? They play a 17-game regular season. Everybody does. What do you expect from the Texans?

Speaker 3:

I expect them to make it to the playoffs for sure. I was watching a little bit of them today. Cj Stroup he may be into that sophomore slump. He wasn't looking very well when I was watching it, but I was only watching the first half. I got to go back and look at the second half and see how he fared out.

Speaker 2:

I'll say the Texans. My nephew married now his wife bought him a CJ Stroud jersey. They're Houston people. I am not a Houston guy. I don't like anything to do with Houston. I have a lot of friends there. Let me rephrase that I don't like any sports team in Houston, just not Cowboys for life baby. I think, the Texans go 12-5 and make it potentially to the AFC Championship, probably the divisional round.

Speaker 3:

Got you Dallas.

Speaker 2:

Cowboys. Real quick, I'll say 11-6, 10-7, something like. I'll say 11-6, 10-7, something like that, possibly 11-6, and make it a do-win-a-playoff game. But will that be enough? How about you?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I don't want to be with you, man, I want to. I want to see, I want to see super bowl, I really do?

Speaker 2:

I mean I do, but I don't think they have it man yeah, there's too much um too much parody huh in the nfl I just mean anything's possible, but the chances of that happening. I think I'll take the odds against the Cowboys of going to the Super Bowl. Do I want them? Yes, dude, it's been since the 96 season.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, no, I get it, man. It's just a lot of I mean, you got golly. I want to see them in the Super Bowl. Let's just wait and see, man. I don't think that they win, but I see them, that they can go.

Speaker 2:

I hope to see it, but I wouldn't put any money on the Dallas Cowboys as long as they're owned by Jerry Jones and family. It's not happening Real quick. Xavier Worthy Great first touch, basically for the Chiefs. I think it was on Thursday. Oh, lit up social media. His speed's real, but he's a smart football player. Your thoughts on that debut?

Speaker 3:

It was fantastic man, I loved to see it. He did an in and around, I believe, and still burnt everybody, everybody. Speed kills man. So that combine, that 4-2 that he ran in the combine, actually translated on the field.

Speaker 2:

It did. He's legit Legit. I think he's going to play a significant role in the Chiefs' offense, for sure.

Speaker 3:

I think you still got to put some weight on because there's some grown men back there in that secondary.

Speaker 2:

All right, stevie, we're month of September. What's a good spot for these fine people to go in Austin, football season or not? It doesn't have to be game day, but it could be.

Speaker 3:

Dude man. So woke up this morning we went outside to go to church, got in the car and it was like 73 degrees. I was like is fall here right now? It's until August, I'm sorry, until October. It felt great. I wanted to go to Nito. Have you heard of Nito? Tell me more. You know where Butler Pitching Putt is? I love Butler Pitching Putt, that new hotel that's right next door to it.

Speaker 2:

Where the limited parking is.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Nito is up on the eighth floor overlooking Lady Bird Lake, yeah, and so they have a balcony up there. Go out there on a Sunday for brunch. There's no one there. It's like one of the best-kept secrets in Austin. Right now it's a great view, really good food and good service. Fantastic drinks that are going to cost you more than your meal, but it's a cool place and right now, at 75 to 80 degrees outside, it feels great. Fantastic. Nice breeze up there too, man.

Speaker 2:

How do you spell it? N-i-d-o, n-i-d-o.

Speaker 3:

Is that the Lorraine Hotel?

Speaker 2:

I know exactly where it is the brunch scene in ATX Austin, Texas. If you're not here, fantastic, I think the brunch scene is better than a lot of other cities.

Speaker 3:

And what was really cool about Austin is man. It's just a bunch of beautiful people just walking around everywhere, you know.

Speaker 2:

I love beautiful people. I love Stevie Lee's smile too. He's a fine American. Hey, to add to your pro tip, before we start wrapping things up, me and the lady friend, there's a pro tip. I like her a lot. I like doing things with her. She's nice to look at, she's funny. Wendy Point is an old school Austin deal. It's privately owned the Windy Point Park.

Speaker 5:

Dude yeah.

Speaker 2:

Right on Lake Travis had the best time. Ten bucks a person, that's nothing. Great people, good vibe, relaxing, and you can camp there, you can. It's just, they got a lot of plans, but it's privately owned one of the last privately owned places in Travis County and that's all I've got to say about that.

Speaker 3:

I've been here for 25 years and haven't never been there.

Speaker 2:

It's beautiful brother, I'll check it out. Tiktoking in the man cave comes to us from our family feud, our guy the modern day host.

Speaker 1:

You know it's going to be comical name a part of your husband that you wish wasn't so darn hairy his balls.

Speaker 2:

Oh, Steve Harvey stunned. Oh, Shonda wasn't afraid to drop the balls on it, hey man.

Speaker 3:

I want to go ask my wife the same question and see what she says.

Speaker 2:

She probably would say the same thing you. You know what it's hard to shave those things well, not if you have the landscape from manscape. Yeah don't. You don't need to do it right on the skin.

Speaker 3:

I've learned the hard way but they have the light on the end, you can see what you're doing. And they have the light on the end, so you can see what you're doing.

Speaker 2:

And they have plastic shears right, but I still found a way to sever my my turkey neck hey, man tell me something, good we have too much fun, Stevie Lee. Hey man, tell me something good. We have too much fun, Stevie Lee. How do we wrap up with something good on episode 41? 401, 401st episode.

Speaker 3:

Yep, man, so I it's all good right now, man, the University of Texas is rolling, Went up to the big house and had a fantastic time After that game. I was smiling from ear to ear, man. So let's just ride that high all the way to Monday, put it behind us and get ready for UTSA, man. But it was fun to see what those kids did in the big house, man. That's something good for me, man.

Speaker 2:

Man, they look so confident. I'll say this man, you guys got to remember that I spent over two decades of my life in the media and I didn't get to really enjoy these types of days, even though I love what I did. But now that I'm at a location and a spot that I really enjoy living port space, I got the old setup, the portable TV out there, the lighting, everything and it was my first time that I really got to just enjoy game day and do it, get up, get, get sweat in make some food.

Speaker 2:

Had a buddy of mine over briefly, but it was it was designed to. Just I wanted to decompress and watch the horns and I'm sure somebody down the hill my voice probably echoed. They probably thought I was insane. And then I got to see my lumberjacks at night, almost came close to upsetting North Texas and Denton and then watched a bunch of other games In Tennessee. The volunteers, good old Rocky Top Woo. Rocky Top Tennessee National title contender right there.

Speaker 3:

No question yeah.

Speaker 2:

It's beautiful, baby Fall is here, football season's here and we're done with episode 401. Stevie Lee, you're a beautiful human. So is your family. So to Stevie Lee and his lovely ladies, he's the only male in that house, I think. Or do you have a male dog?

Speaker 3:

I have two male dogs.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so it's balanced, it's balanced. So, to the entire northwest Louisiana, the great city of Shreveport and Bossier and the Hargrove family which originates from Bossier, for the love of all the Hargroves and the Lees and every one of you watching and listening, we love you. Stevie Lee loves you. He's smiling. When he's smiling, life is good. And to the OG man Cave boys, that being Harbaugh Hards, big Mike and the Coach Mo, what do we tell them, stevie Lee?

Speaker 3:

We out, we out.

Speaker 4:

You see the jumpy, I'm fitted up.

Speaker 5:

I'm in my car, in a Gideon I said get out.
