Speaker 1:

What does the name meaning of Zainab? So Stevie Lee, episode 404 first night game at the cathedral that Daryl built, uh, dkr at night. As you can tell by my voice, it's a little different. Nowadays it's a little different. Nowadays it's a lot different.

Speaker 6:

I mean, how do you sum it up from your vantage point. It's a great atmosphere to watch a college football game, man. It rivals some of the night games in the country, like LSU game In our stadium. I feel like it's good, wholesome fun. You go to a night game in LSU, man, it's like it's something different. Let fun. You go to a night game at LSU man, it's like it's something different. Let's just put it at that.

Speaker 1:

It's very different how you doing Very different. Hey, this is, it was Texas 3-0. Yeah, undefeated. We've got a lot to unbundle, including an injury, and it's consistent, a consistent type of injury. Just, we can all predict it. But you know, go ahead and follow us on all of our social media platforms and subscribe for free to our YouTube page, follow along banner with us, contribute debate, laugh, offer suggestions, do whatever you will. And you know, all this would not be possible without our family from Hargrove Roofing in Shreveport. They are fully invested into UT Athletics and the Austin Texas area and Stevie Lee he is the face, if you will, of Hargrove Roofing.

Speaker 6:

Hargrove Roofing know who's on your roof.

Speaker 1:

I love it, I love it, I love it, we love the Hardgroves and we are renewed again to extend our partnership for another year and hopefully we can commit to another decade. That'd be great, no question, hey, big news for the first time since 2008. Check this out Texas, number one in the country in the Associated Press poll. Georgia or Texas either one of them right now, and or it could be number one. Their argument they are. There's no argument. They are definitely the two best teams in the country right now.

Speaker 1:

But we have our own poll, meaning not votes, power rankings. You take the criteria of opponents, strength of opponents, margin of victory or defeat, and the wins away or at home. Let's get it all right. I got a feeling stevie has a lot to say about this. If there was a 1A and 1B, when I first started going through this this morning, I had Texas number one. I'm not saying that they're not number one in the country, but it's so early in the season it really doesn't matter. But I kept thinking when I looked at Georgia's schedule, since they are the defending champs and they've got the dynasty that Alabama once was. They beat Clemson 34 to 3, beat Tennessee Tech 48 to 3, but this week in their SEC opener on the road they struggled 13 to 12. Texas has handled their opponents as they should, putting up half a hundred Colorado State at home. Shut them out. Go to Michigan a not-so-great Michigan team, but they're not awful but beat them in the big house. That's significant. And they handle business against UTSA. Let's go, stevie, why do you disagree with that?

Speaker 6:

After you said all that, you still feel the same way.

Speaker 1:

I still feel.

Speaker 6:

So, Georgia, this was their first road game right, yes. And their first road game was against Kentucky.

Speaker 1:

Kentucky SEC opener. What was Texas' first road game was against Kentucky.

Speaker 6:

Kentucky SEC opener. What was Texas' first road game?

Speaker 1:

Well, we've only had three games, so it was.

Speaker 6:

Michigan. What was Texas' first road game?

Speaker 1:

We've only had three games, so it was week two last week.

Speaker 2:

Michigan, as I mentioned.

Speaker 1:

Michigan.

Speaker 6:

They went into Michigan. Yep, we're talking about a road game. It's hard to go anywhere on the road and win, and they won handedly.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 6:

So you see what I'm getting at right there.

Speaker 1:

No, I got you yeah.

Speaker 6:

So when we're talking about the strength of schedule, I guess it's always hard to go on the road. It's always hard for rivalry games.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 6:

Yeah. So I think and I personally don't like Texas being number one, because you know the kids can get out of focus, you know the athletes can, right, but I really think that there's not much of an argument. I hear your argument, but they should be number one, because I mean, who's better, michigan or Kansas or Kentucky, I'm sorry, kentucky, kentucky.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I don't think Michigan's very good.

Speaker 6:

I don't think Kentucky's very good.

Speaker 1:

I think Kentucky will be an eight or nine win team.

Speaker 6:

You think so?

Speaker 1:

Just like Michigan. Okay, well, let's go back. It's hard to say Michigan's not any good. They're defending champs. You lost a lot.

Speaker 6:

Okay, they still got champions on that team, though.

Speaker 1:

Right, but they're significantly less of a team than they were. I'm not discounting that win by Texas. You go into the big house and win. That's huge.

Speaker 6:

Against 102,000 people 107. They had 107. 107,000 people went in there and beat them handedly to where they had to leave. They were leaving, and so Georgia man, kentucky was two first downs away from winning that game. You know so if you're going to be number one in the country, kentucky was two first downs away from winning that game. Yeah, you know so if you're going to be number one in the country, you cannot be that close on an away game with an unranked opponent.

Speaker 1:

The decisive factor for me was it's the SEC opener.

Speaker 6:

Hey, I hear you. You're putting a lot of water in that cup, though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no doubt. But it doesn't change that Texas is number one in the AP poll. I don't have a vote. You don't have a vote.

Speaker 5:

We don't Not many people do.

Speaker 1:

But good debate. I think it's great that we don't agree on everything, but I think it's good that we don't. But check out what I did. I put Alabama over Ohio State.

Speaker 1:

Alabama is starting to roll a little bit shockingly. I put Tennessee all the way up to five. They're going to play. We'll talk about them in a little bit. I think Penn State's a little quiet. I put Kansas State in. Man, they're just continuing to do their thing. Nebraska A lot of people disagree about it. They're on the outside. Hey, Matt Rule's doing a great job up there. I'm not saying they're a playoff team, but, man, they're starting to look good. They're not the Nebraska teams of old, but they are much better than they have been.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, and number eight over there. Yeah, I told y'all. We talked about this in the early season. Missouri, missouri, making some quiet noise. Shout out to Curtis Looper no question, no question, coach Looper leaving the field and coming on the podcast with us. We love.

Speaker 1:

Coach Looper.

Speaker 1:

We love Coach Looper. All right. Texas defeated UTSA 56-7. Solid day, I thought. Utsa they're somewhat on a rebuilding stage. Jeff Trenner's done a great job with that program. He's been in this position before but he's built with young people young high school and develop them. But in that victory Texas suffered an injury and we're going to talk about it shortly. But let's hear from Sark. Quinn Ewers left the game and we've been down this road before with an abdominal injury and we got to see extensive play essentially 30 full game minutes with arch, manning and dkr was electric because they got to see what manning could do and he did a lot and this was Sark on Quinn Ewer's injury and what Arch did as far as that 30 minutes of game time that he played.

Speaker 4:

You know, quinn, it's an oblique strain, an abdomen strain. It remains to be seen of kind of the seriousness of that and the length of that. But that's what it is. There's nothing. We don't think it's anything structural or broken or things like that. It was an odd play, but nothing, you know, we don't think it's anything structural or broken or things like that. It was an odd play. But again, that gave an opportunity for Arch to get some valuable playing time and experience. And then for Arch to come in and you know just, you never know as a backup when you're going to get put in the game and for him to come in on his first play to hit DeAndre Moore for the touchdown on his third play, to be able to you know, we're in a little different style of offense when he's in there a little zone read to pull it in for the explosive play, did some nice things for us and extended some drives on third down.

Speaker 1:

So that was a great experience for him that he got All right. Stevie From my vantage point obviously the young man we know about his pedigree number 16 did everything asked of him that I don't think a lot of backup quarterbacks could do. I mean, we saw Murphy last year do some good things last year and he's now with Duke. But Manning is essentially in year two redshirted. I thought he exceeded every ounce of expectation coming in there, because I think he's been wanting this, like any other athlete wants to have this opportunity. I want to hear Stevie Lee's perspective and opinion of what you saw.

Speaker 6:

I saw a poised kid that was prepared Coach Sark looks like Coach Sark has prepared him to go in at any moment, right, and when his number was called it was like the perfect start to his career at the University of Texas. I felt good the way he. You know there were some mistakes that we can clean up, but what he did took ownership of that offense. I really like the way. I like these little cues man. A lot of people don't even think about this. I like these little cues man. A lot of people don't even think about this. But Quinn Ewers could have gotten up off the ground and just walked off to the sideline, but he stayed there for a little bit to get Arch some warm-up right and when Arch got in there he was already warm and ready to go and I think that's orchestrated. If you think you need to come out of the game, get on the ground so we can get another person out.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was brilliant by yours to do that. And I think Sartre preached to Manning that there's going to be a time where you're going to get called on and so you need to prepare like you're QB1. And you can tell the kid was prepared. You can tell that coach had a script for him. You know how coach he always talked about. He has a script, you know, for the first part of the game, right, you can tell that he had a script just in case Manning went in there.

Speaker 6:

So those plays were called for Manning. He would never call a zone read for Quinn Ewers, right? You know what I mean. So he re-tailored the game On the back of his play card. He probably had, if viewers go down break in case of emergency, and he had these sets of plays for Manny. That's what I saw, that's what I thought, that's what I felt. In the stands they're like okay, we prepared for this, let's do it. And now everyone's talking about this Manny kid and I love to see him running down a field. That was a 67-yard touchdown. I think we're going to talk about it. But his uncles never did anything like that. They did not have the athleticism to do anything like that. They did not have the athleticism to do anything like that. And not only did he kind of hurdle a kid, he juked a kid too, yeah you know. And there was a safety running after him that could not catch our quarterback. So it was the slowest looking, fastest guy I've ever seen. So I'm real happy man. The future's bright with this kid.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know his dad, cooper apparently is the best athlete of the Mannings. Oh, but there was an Instagram story that I think Cooper Manning that's his dad, I believe said that he got it from his mama. Hey, real quick. According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, he says Ewer's ab injury isn't as serious as initially thought. He's probably going to miss the Monroe game, which is fine. You know you want to save him for SEC, but it's week to week after that.

Speaker 1:

this is still quinn ewers team yeah, no question, no question it's you can't just I mean I think those, everyone on that team, including arch, is aware of that, and so what stevie alluded to here's that speed. I mean a lot of people said this looked like a kind of looked like Vince Young again.

Speaker 3:

Much on the ground in this game.

Speaker 1:

Oh, look at Arch Manning. Oh, hit him with the two-step, Arch Manning touchdown.

Speaker 3:

Well, when he bit on the back I had a pretty good idea. I just had to make one move on the safety and when adrenaline kicks in it helps you run a little bit faster. But I credit that to Torrey Becton, our head weight coach. He runs our tails off in the summer, so I think I've gotten a little bit faster since I've gotten on campus.

Speaker 1:

Your boy Becton got a shout out.

Speaker 6:

It's my guy and hey. So after this season Torrey Becton gets another raise. You know, no, he's exactly right, man, when I go to practice and I talk to Torrey, I can tell that the program is in really good hands. Yeah, because you can get some five-star athletes, but they can't stay five-star high school athletes once they get here. They still need to develop speed and strength and conditioning. So he's doing a great job, man. But Manning, turning on the Jets like that man it was surprising to me that the kid had the wheels like that. You know Right, so that was fun to watch.

Speaker 1:

Our guy Danny Davis, delivered an amazing stat. A little bit of information here. Manning's the first freshman quarterback since Colt McCoy in 2006 against Baylor, and I remember coming into town for this First most touchdowns from a freshman quarterback. You know Manning had five total touchdowns yesterday. That's the most by a freshman quarterback since Colt McCoy. Four touchdowns passing in that 67-yard run. I mean, manning sees the field, it's natural, but he comes from a great family of quarterbacks so we understand that. And, as I mentioned, only 30 actual game minutes, he produced all that. Yeah, total 427 yards of offense for Texas, or, excuse me, 427 yards passing, 614 yards of offense for the Horns.

Speaker 6:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

Yeah that's incredible.

Speaker 1:

Incredible Shout out Danny Davis, so Colin Simmons, so Texas defense has a lot of youth and a good combination in my opinion. We know David Benda what he can do, we know Makuba and some of those transfers along the defensive line, but Colin Simmons is one of those guys that's becoming very disruptive, including the sophomore Anthony Hill. But Colin Simmons he was asked about, man, are you getting used to this speed? Because yesterday six total tackles, two of them tackles for loss. You know UTSA has some pretty good players, you know inexperienced some of them. But this is his response and I love this kid because just look at that energy. He's just starting to get it. The green light's going off.

Speaker 8:

Honestly, I'm just getting comfortable. I'm just getting started too. That's the crazy thing. I'm just now getting started, bro. The more comfortable I get in college football is the best. It's the more that I. You know, I just got a lot in me, dog, I got a lot in me, yeah not lacking confidence, I love not lacking confidence, that's.

Speaker 6:

That's actually awesome. Um, I like the kid, I like his answer, but I remember that uh, coach brown didn't let freshmen talk right uh to the media, so he needed a little bit more media training. But let that kid play, he's eating, eating out there, he is eating.

Speaker 1:

As for UTS, though, texas this week hosts Louisiana Monroe 9-8. And man, it's going to be fun. And then the SEC opener on the 28th against Mississippi State, which, right now, mississippi State got it handed to them by Toledo. There's been some SEC teams losing in these non-conference games, kind of a down year a little bit. But as far as UTSA, jeff Traylor, I have no doubt that he's going to get UTSA right. He's a fan of the show and he was asked a question about what do you tell the UTSA fans after losing to Texas 55-7 and Texas State 49-10?

Speaker 2:

I get it. I mean we got to beat 55-7. Hell, I might be madder than a hornet. I'd want to know what the heck we've been doing all spring and fall camp and spring and summer. Do we practice? Do y'all call play? Do y'all work? Do y'all call play? Do y'all work? Do y'all do anything? I get it. I'd be frustrated too, so it doesn't matter what I want them to hear. Our play tells them, and our play is not giving them any hope right now, so I don't blame them for being frustrated.

Speaker 1:

I mean, he answered it properly. He didn't avoid it. I don't know where he gets that composure, because that would be hard to answer, but in his position I get it. What did you like? I didn't see a team that quit. I didn't see a team quit at all.

Speaker 6:

No, they didn't quit. It's just Texas. Is that good? It's just Texas Is that good.

Speaker 6:

It's just that good right now, you know. So hats off to those kids that came out and fought that one touchdown that they had. I'm sorry the running back's name, it slips my mind, but he did that all on his own. He wheeled himself into the end zone off the left side of his offense, so that was fun for them. I wanted to shut out, but you know you can't get what you want all the time right. So, utsa man, they still got a bright future. Man, I really do like Jeff Traylor.

Speaker 1:

I do too. Big fan, Big fan. And one thing you know, quinn, through that interception I didn't quite understand that, but hey, I've never played at that level. That happens sometimes. I was shocked by it. Our friends at Kyle's Station opened up SEC play in Gainesville. Florida is bad. Florida State is awful. The only team worth a shit right now in Florida is Miami, miami. So the Aggies got a win 33-20, and they're starting to grow up. And you know, regardless good, bad or ugly, you went on the road in the SEC. This looks good, goes inside. That ball is picked off.

Speaker 2:

Bryce Anderson here he goes. Looks good, goes inside. That ball Is picked off. Price Anderson, here he goes.

Speaker 1:

It's an Aggies kind of afternoon folks Aggies Not Aggie, that's my fault on that but you kind of get the feel that they're getting there. You go on the road, you're composed. You got to grow up and I think the A&M showed that A&M's got talent, bro. I mean we could say this all day about. I know you obviously are not a fan of them for obvious reasons. You're a Longhorn, former Longhorn football player that got to play them a lot and beat them a lot. But when you look at A&M's development now, what are you seeing?

Speaker 6:

It's coming around. What are you seeing? It's coming around, but, like you said, Florida sucks. They're not good. They're not good. They beat a team by 13 points. That's not very good. The jury's still out for me on how really good the Aggies can be. Putting up 33 points on anybody is hard to do, so you know, hats off to them. But we got to wait and see. We're going to get into the meat of the SEC and see if they're going to be able to do anything.

Speaker 1:

Yeah Well, they host a non-conference game against Bowling Green for the Mid-American Conference on the 21st and then following week Arkansas travels to A&M. So we'll figure out. Everyone's going to figure out who's who pretty quick, and this is where it gets fun. Ou is undefeated. They were really hard on their quarterback. The fans are on Jackson Arnold. There was a stat that I saw put up and it put it through the same amount of games that he's played. He was right up there with Quinn Ewers and other, even Kyler Murray, their first year to start.

Speaker 1:

You know Kyler started A&M before he went to OU Numbers very comparable through the same amount of games that he's played in OU. Fans have been really hard on Jackson Arnold. Ou definitely has a defense, but we're going to find out and game day is going to be in Norman or in Knoxville oh no, in Norman. And Josh Heupel, the former national championship winning quarterback for Oklahoma, the head coach.

Speaker 6:

Head coach yep.

Speaker 1:

Should be a great game, because I know Norman they called it the Palace on the Prairie, Gaylord Memorial Special Place. They're going to give Josh Heupel a nice homecoming in kind of a rude way, I'm sure, but it will be a homecoming for him. What do you expect from this game?

Speaker 6:

I'm expecting Tennessee to go and handle business. I did, in the bottom of my heart, want OU to do well because we came in together, right Coming into the SEC together, but the way Tennessee handled NC State a couple weeks ago or was that last week, last week, last week when they played NC State Right In the Dukes Bowl, duke man, yeah, they look really good and you know, ou did not look good yesterday against what Toledo, was it?

Speaker 1:

No, it was Tulane.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, they did not look great against Tulane. I think Tennessee might come in there and do something, and then you know the emotional high that Tennessee's head coach Hypel will have playing in his old stadium against his old team that's going to be. You know my money is on Tennessee right now.

Speaker 1:

Tennessee beat out of state. They played Kent State and they beat them 71-0.

Speaker 5:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but you know Tulane's not great, but they're not awful. They're much better than they used to be and you know they were a 10 or 11 win team not long ago. I'm going to pick OU in the upset. I think it'll. I think both teams will be in. The OU's got to find a way to score 24 on Tennessee at least. Okay, so it'll grow up Down the road. Texas State had a big opportunity. They were hosting a former Pac-12, now Big 12 member oh man, joey Herbert. Highlight reels for Texas State. Gj Kenney's got a great program down there. Shout out to Coach Bailiff, who's the right-handed guy right-handed guy retired from coaching. Texas was up. Texas State was up by two touchdowns. Ended up losing to Arizona State in San Marcos 31-28. I don't know if you caught that game, but Texas State had their chances.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, I caught the highlights, man. That was fun though. Man, texas State, just get back to work and keep their head down 100%. You know that's just one loss. They can run the table and get back in the conference game and still make it to the college football playoffs.

Speaker 1:

Maybe, maybe they can. Maybe they can. Maybe They've got to win out and hope Northern Illinois loses. We saw Joey Holbert hurdle that Arizona State DB. I think a Longhorn basically said hold my beer. How about Gunner Helm? Yesterday over UT San Antonio? Gunner Helm is much more athletic than I and a lot of people thought Gunner Helm is an extremely major part of this offense. What would you caption for this photo?

Speaker 6:

oh golly, you had to hold my beard, but golly. Anything you can do, I can do better that is I can better.

Speaker 1:

I love it, I love it when. Stevie goes. Harmony on us.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, no question, man, I got the pipes. I saw this kid's Instagram page and he has this picture on his Instagram page.

Speaker 1:

Already.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, already. Yeah, I'm feeling bad for this kid number six. I don't know his name, but that's a terrible place to be in right now, like falling on your back looking up at a guy jumping over you as you're losing your footing. He's the same kid that missed a tackle on Manny as well. He got an on him and Manny got out of it. He didn't have a good day. His film session is going to be terrible today.

Speaker 1:

How about these nuts?

Speaker 6:

Yeah, there it is. He's looking up at him, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Oh God, he's looking up at him. Yeah, oh god. Well, dak Prescott, great guy um, early in the week before very rich guy, very rich guy um, I learned that he has a new, a new talent. Well, a talent that you know Domino's, it's a fun game. Old school, we all play with our great uncles, grandfathers, we still play with our buddies. He got into a little debate with, I think, calvin Hill, one of the reporters up in DFW's coverage covered the Cowboys for a long time. Dak said you know what? I'll beat you at Domino's in 10 minutes.

Speaker 8:

Oh I know you don't want to play at Domino's. Stop it, man. Old school, I put the spots and dots on it, bro, I play at Domino's at any point. Okay, we'll talk about it. We can go play right now.

Speaker 1:

It won't take nothing but 10 minutes, I promise you. Clarence Hill, not Calvin Hill. Calvin Hill's a former legendary Dallas Cowboy receiver, or Dallas Cowboy period. Yeah, listen, spots and dots.

Speaker 6:

Spots and dots, man, that's a cultural thing in North Louisiana. Man, that's all we did. We got together with friends, family, anybody. All we did was play dominoes, man. I went down to South Louisiana to see family for a family reunion this past 4th of July. That's all we did. We just set up a few tables playing dominoes with the uncles, the cousins, everybody. I believe Dak when he say you can pull out the dominoes anywhere. I got a box of dominoes that rides in my car with me in the back so a gang can let out at any moment.

Speaker 1:

I love it. I got something to show you. I got something to show you. Hang on. Oh yeah, hang on there, brother, my late great uncle, this has been around and I've had them for a long time. This was made for me. He made this, oh wow.

Speaker 6:

For the Dominoes. There you go, so you know too. You know how to play.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean I'm a little rusty right now. Domino remember back in the early 90s.

Speaker 6:

Domino MF-er. This is me man. I got a bunch of sets of Domino's laying around. I go antiquing every now and then and I go get some antique Domino's. I just reached over. I got a set right here. I like it In a little case. You just carry around in a little case, man, nice little case there, stevie.

Speaker 1:

Huh, that's a very classy case you have there, yeah man.

Speaker 6:

So I'm with Dak North, louisiana. You know he's from right down the road in Shreveport, he going on I-20 East Right. He's from Halton Louisiana, and so when he said something about dominoes, I believe him. But now it's not domino season, it's football season.

Speaker 1:

Well that's a good transition Because they did not look.

Speaker 6:

He didn't look them out at all this week.

Speaker 1:

They look like hot garbage and we're going to talk about it on the other side of this break. Shout out to Hargrove Roofing.

Speaker 6:

Hi, I'm Stevie Lee, former defensive tackle for the University of Texas.

Speaker 1:

And I'm Clyde Hargrove. I'm a roofer.

Speaker 6:

I also saw action in 52 games and I fixed a lot of roofs, also won a Rose Bowl and never lost to A&M.

Speaker 3:

And I fixed a lot of roofs, right, stevie? Oh right, right, I'm sorry, I zoned out a little bit, so are you going?

Speaker 1:

to say the thing about Hargrove Roofing. Hargrove Roofing, know who's on your roof. Is this even going to work as a commercial? That was DeMarvian Overshawn, who was amazing in week one. He led that Dallas defense a week ago. That Dallas defense and the Cowboys offense said you know what, let's bring out that Green Bay playoff game from a year ago and let's see if we can replicate, duplicate, look just like that team from a year ago, because the New Orleans Saints I don't know this took the same game plan and ran it right down the core of Dallas' defense and had their way. That was awful.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, the Saints could do anything they wanted to do, man 44-19, the final Home opener in Jerry World.

Speaker 1:

How does that even happen?

Speaker 6:

They cut away to Jerry a lot in that game and he was not happy at all. He was not, he shouldn't have been. So I don't know man. They got some work to do on defense out there and then Dak, his receivers weren't getting open.

Speaker 3:

No.

Speaker 6:

You know they were. You know they just weren't getting open. No, you know they were, you know they just weren't getting open for me. Like he was looking around for someone to get open and they were just the route tree has to change, or something like that man, because it wasn't a good look.

Speaker 1:

Oh it was awful. They gave up 190 yards rushing. Just flashbacks of Jordan Love and Green Bay Packers. It wasn't a good look. Oh, it was awful. They gave up 190 yards rushing. Just flashbacks of Jordan Love and Green Bay Packers having their way against the Cowboys in that playoff game. That was the same. It's just awful, stevie, and you know I don't care if I sound like a fan because I am, but I told you I wasn't going to be emotionally invested and this is the reason why. But I do feel for McCarthy and he was asked about. This looks just like that game against Green Bay in the playoffs less than a year ago earlier this year.

Speaker 5:

Embarrassing. This is what he had to say. I don't think the last time we played here has anything to do with it. I understand the convenience of the criticism and obviously I'm on the other side of it. But yeah, I think you know we've had changes on defense. You know some of the changes we made was to put the emphasis on the run defense. It was not evident today. I mean no doubt about it. They got the ball on our perimeter. You know time and time again. So you know. So in the second level. So once again it's I gotta quit saying we need to play much better. I need to coach better.

Speaker 1:

Sounds just like last year, our last season.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, he said. I need to quit saying you know he called himself. You know what. I need to quit saying you know, yeah, you know. Yeah, he's struggling man, he's struggling. I think he feels that seat being hot right now.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's partly not his fault. Correct me if I'm wrong. Yes, they have great pieces, but that defense is built to rush the passer and stop on the back end. Pass, right, yes.

Speaker 6:

Yes, but why isn't that not his fault? He's not the one that makes the moves. Ac. Yes, but why isn't that?

Speaker 1:

not his fault. He's not the one that makes the moves, acquisitions. I mean he has input.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, he's not the GM, is what you're saying? No, yeah, I hear you, but again, this is why we get paid the big bucks, or they get paid the big bucks to put their team in the right positions. So, yeah, man, I don't know, it's a little bit different man. I think there is some onus on him, for even for that defense. You know he is the head coach and what they say, it rolls downhill Right. So he put the product on the field. Well, I guess he didn't put the players on the field, but he needed to make the game plan to put on the field.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, next week they'll host Baltimore, and Baltimore is 0-2, and they're going to be very hungry. I mean NFL anybody can win on any given day, there's no doubt.

Speaker 6:

Baltimore lost today.

Speaker 1:

They're 0-2. Oh my goodness.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, I was working today, man, so I didn't catch all the games.

Speaker 1:

They got beat by the Raiders. Oh my goodness. Yeah, I was working today, man, so I didn't catch all the games. They got beat by the Raiders. Oh my goodness. So that's going to be a very hungry team.

Speaker 6:

Yep for sure.

Speaker 1:

Well, speaking of the NFL, we all know the Sharps and Shannon Sharp and he's part of the butt of a joke. He's our tick-tooking in the man cave. Subject Shannon had a lady friend or maybe his significant other over at his home and somehow, during their intimacy, his Instagram live went off and it was explicit. You could hear everything from grunts to pleasure to good stuff, and this was him addressing it on TikTok.

Speaker 7:

I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act I think there are millions and billions of people of consenting age that engage in activities but to have your most intimate detail on the audio to be heard. I'm disappointed in myself. I let them call them. I called my sister, my friends. Obviously my friends reached out, but guys this was not staged Came in. I threw my phone on the bed, gazed at an activity I did not know IG Live. I've never been on IG Live. I've never turned IG Live on. Do you believe him?

Speaker 6:

I do, I do, man, I do, I don't think he had any malicious intent at all. Right, yeah, I do. But there's people saying that it was a marketing ploy because of the pills that he markets. Do you know the world pills that he markets? So that was a perfect opportunity, you know, for that. So, but I do think it was an accident. I think that Shannon Sharp is way above trying to do something like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. He and his brother they're good people. They're good people, it's just, that was very explicit. And even his brother I saw the recorded version of it from somebody. His brother came in laughing emoji.

Speaker 6:

Oh, my God.

Speaker 1:

This is really happening yep, hey, man tell me something good all right, my brother, uh, so many great things, and I love hearing the world according to Stevie, because he is a positive guy, and so that's why we like to hear something good from him. Tell us something good, Stevie.

Speaker 6:

Lee man, I'm going to stick with football right now. Man, you know how the old saying is if you got two quarterbacks, you ain't got one. You ever heard that? Yep, hey, baby, the University of Texas got two great quarterbacks, right, two great quarterbacks. That saying does not apply to us. Right now, it's still yours, his team, but when he goes down, we got another great quarterback that our future is bright with, and so he stepped in. Sark had a great game plan for Ewers, but he also has a great game plan for Manning. Whenever he needs to, he prepared, he set this aside and said break in case of emergencies. There was an emergency, he broke it. This kid came out and accounted for what? Five touchdowns.

Speaker 6:

Yeah five, five touchdowns. Who else's backup quarterback can do that? Nobody, nobody. We may have the best quarterback in the country and we have the best backup in the country, hands down. That's something good and that's something that the University of Texas fans, football fans, can lean on for the next four years. Three years, right, you know. So we might have back-to-back Heismans.

Speaker 1:

It's possible, just like OU has done in recent history.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, no question.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of, I think it was an ou fan who uh tweeted something we can't even find one good quarterback in texas and monopolizing having to as to, uh, it's funny, that's funny. Tell you something good man, just uh, this is brief, just to all the your important people in your life. I mean enjoy what's going on right now, but in your you know just people in your life man, communicate what you mean Always, man. I've seen so many instances recently that assuming things man don't assume. Don't assume man. Be direct with your people.

Speaker 6:

We too old to be assuming man, I can't get it.

Speaker 1:

You just got to tell me straight up.

Speaker 1:

If you're going to start with assuming it's ass, no question, because everything will be great if you be direct with people. I've seen it happen so much, even at watching people trying to get a hold of people for this game, at the games tailgating and whatnot. Man, don't disrespect your people. Yep, that's all I got to say. That's great, that's great. We all do that. Everything will be wonderful. And get out and see the drone show man. Check out the stories inside the man Cave IG page. We got a little bit of that for you. It's crazy, man, but it happens at a lot of stadiums across the country and DKR's environment has improved leaps and bounds. Stevie Lee, this is it, episode 404, it's always fun, always a great time with you and, as you know, we switch to every Sunday, unless we let you know differently. During football season, steve and I are every week, non-football season every other week, and we may make some special appearances every now and then.

Speaker 1:

So, for the Hargrove family and the great city of Shreveport, Louisiana, and the city of Austin, my college alma mater town, Nacogdoches, Texas, and to the Lee family and all of you who watch this Much love to you. We appreciate you watching, Not washing, watching Like, follow each of our platforms and like us Share our content. And for Stevie Lee and OG man Cave Boys, that being Hardball Hearts, Big Mike and the Coach Mo, what do we tell them, Stevie Lee?

Speaker 6:

Speaker 1:

You see the drip and I'm fitted up, I'm in my car in the Giddy Up.

Speaker 6:

I said get out you.
