Speaker 3:

Hi, I'm Stevie Lee. We'll be right back a lot of roofs, right, stevie? All right, I'm sorry I zoned out a little bit.

Speaker 5:

So are you going to say the thing about hargrove roofing? Hargrove roofing, know who's on your roof. Is this even going to work as a commercial in the eye?

Speaker 1:

formation and hand it to him Touchdown. Georgia SEC champions.

Speaker 4:

Stevie, I don't know what a bittersweet face looks like. Is it maybe that emoji that's like this?

Speaker 6:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

What's your facial expression? How do you sum up last night, saturday night, the second loss to Georgia this season, and then fast forward to right now for this episode? I mean, what emoji best represents how you're feeling, right?

Speaker 6:

now.

Speaker 3:

Meh, but with a smile, meh, with a smile. The goal is still in front of them.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, the goal is still in front of them.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, the goal is still in front of everybody. So all you got to do is win four games and we go on a pretty good winning streak after we lose a game. So I'm feeling pretty good man.

Speaker 4:

Hey, I like that man. There's that smile, that's that deceptive smile, Like you've got something. Like our good late friend the deceptive Jason Reeves always had something comical, he had practical jokes. That's that. Look, I just saw on your face, You've got something going on over there. Yeah, I am Sean Clinch, the host of Stories Inside the man Cave. That's Stevie Lee, the former Texas defensive tackle played for the great Mack Brown. He is the co-host of the past rush with Stevie Lee and other episodes, and these episodes would not be possible without the beautiful logos and the company out of Shreveport, Louisiana, the hometown of the Stevie Lee Hargrove Roofing. Tell us briefly a little bit about our Hargrove family, Stevie.

Speaker 3:

Hargrove. Good people over there, honest, get them on your roof. They'll tell you exactly what they think and what you need on your roof. So you're going to always trust those guys, man. Good people coming out of Shreveport, louisiana, and then made their way from East Texas all the way into Central Texas. Man. So those are my guys, hard Grove Roofing. Know who's on your roof.

Speaker 4:

I don't know why it gets me every time hey. Texas-georgia part two Texas now 0-2 against Georgia. But, man, what a boxing match. What a hard-fought fight. But today the good news more tackle football at DKR Peavy, are you ready?

Speaker 3:

I'm ready.

Speaker 4:

Man, let's ride baby.

Speaker 7:

We got a great team, we got a great mindset, we got a great physical and mental ability to go do what we have for our goals. And you know, we had a goal of going to win an SEC championship. That's out the window. But we had a goal of going to win a national championship and's out the window. But we had a goal of going to win a national championship and that's what we're going to go do.

Speaker 4:

I love that. That's Michael Taff, the defensive back, former walk-on. I think that is going to be a great idea, coming up with a new partnership that we may have on the horizon. Here we're going to do an episode on walk-ons because they're not going to be, they're not going to exist anymore due to the increase of scholarships to 105. So no more walk-ons at this level.

Speaker 4:

But Michael Taft, one of those great examples Westlake guy, austin OG, he said it best Stevie, texas lost a very gritty, gritty game and we're going to dive into it quickly, kind of unbundle. It get stevie's opinion. And there was a lot of hatred spewed on social media last night, mainly out of frustration, and everyone goes and they targets the quarterback. Before we get going on that, just follow, like us and subscribe to our youtube page for free and follow and share our content on Facebook, igx and on TikTok and we have reached episode 436. But man, 22 to 19. Texas if they would have converted those field goals into touchdowns, I don't even think we would be talking about it truly being a game.

Speaker 3:

Nah, you're exactly right. Our friend over our friend, Burt Auburn, just wasn't on last night and he was hooking it too far left Right, but he nailed a clutch one to get us into overtime.

Speaker 4:

He sure did.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and he nailed one in overtime. We just needed to stop him on defense, so it was still a fun game to watch. Had a great time. I'm just tired of everybody saying, oh, welcome to the SEC. Well, we're here, all right. You already welcomed us and we almost took it, so stop welcoming us and let's just play football. Don't come in our stadium chanting SEC anymore. Like you know, it's Texas is a team that you love to hate. You know what I mean, and so just you know. Sometimes you don't need to act like you've been there, you know. So that stuff is annoying. I don't know why it gets me so it's so annoying to me. But quit saying welcome to the SEC. You welcomed us a year ago, so we're here and let's just play football.

Speaker 4:

It's not hospitable. But I will say Texas fans did do that at Kyle Field, which was funny when Texas beat A&M.

Speaker 3:

I didn't hear that. So what did they do at Kyle Field?

Speaker 4:

At the end, when they knew Texas had about to wrap up, they started chanting SEC real loud, you know sarcastically.

Speaker 6:

Got you.

Speaker 4:

Hey, first half against Georgia, Stevie, Texas was up 6-3. You know Bird had missed two field goals and if you would have just judged it by the stats alone, I mean, look at this, Texas had limited to Georgia the 54 total yards of offense, 260 yards for Texas and negative two yards rushing in that first half. And look at Chip Brown after one quarter. I mean Quinn was putting up the numbers, Matthew Golden was having a game, but you knew with Kirby Smart there was going to be. They've always made second-half adjustments. What was your takeaway on what adjustment Georgia made? And maybe did Sark not make in that second half, or did you notice anything?

Speaker 3:

Well, man, you know there's a couple of ways you can look at it and this is the way I always look at it. You knock out the first string quarterback, the guy that you have game plan for for two weeks or most of the times, a week. Or going back and look at film of what we played him earlier this year. We game plan for Carson Beck. We did not game plan for the other kid, I forgot his name already. I'm sorry. Yeah, we did not game plan for carson bett. Right, we did not game plan for the other kid. I forgot his name already. I'm sorry. Yeah, we did not game plan for him.

Speaker 3:

So that for me, when we knock out a quarterback early in the game like that it is it's a little bit harder for us to play defense on someone we haven't seen film on or watch much film on, you know. So that was that's my take always, not just last night. It's always that way whenever you knock out of a starting quarterback early in the game. So that's um, that's my take of um. You know, kind of what happened on defense and what needed to happen a little bit more was the offense when we came back out after we, I guess their first drive out of, out of halftime, what did?

Speaker 4:

they do. Georgia was Georgia, I think. Did they get a film? No, no, they ended up taking a 10-6 lead get a filter.

Speaker 3:

No, no, they ended up taking a 10-6 lead. Um, yeah, yeah. So they got a touchdown right out of halftime because, you know, like I said, we didn't game plan for him to be playing, but we got the ball back and we went, I think, three and out on our first possession uh, offensive possession. So what? What we needed to do is have a good long drive and get points at the end of that drive, because PK can then coach the guys up on the sideline of the new quarterback that has come in for them.

Speaker 3:

Make those adjustments, make those adjustments right there on the fly, because in halftime we didn't know who was going to come out as the quarterback and Beck ended up not coming out as the quarterback and and Beck ended up not coming out, and so I felt comfortable as long as we had gotten a long, sustainable drive from our offense while the defense is getting coached up, because I think we do a great job of coaching up the kids throughout the game. I think that we are whenever we, whenever we play. I think that we're whenever we, whenever we play, I think that we're a better team as the as the the game go on Right. No, we're. We're not the same team in the first quarter than we are in the fourth quarter, because we're coaching these kids up and they do a really good job of that. But I don't think we had enough time to do that on defense yesterday.

Speaker 4:

Well, it was that, and then going back to the first half, I mean the one big problem collectively for the game was Texas 11 pieces of yellow laundry for a 94 yards. Look at the bottom there on that first half, the stat. Look at that. Eight penalties for 80 yards. Now, texas cleaned it up quite a bit in the second half. Penalties for 80 yards Now, texas cleaned it up quite a bit in the second half. But I did enjoy the awkward but absolutely comical halftime interview with Sark.

Speaker 7:

Coach, eight penalties in this first half. How do you get your team to clean some of that? Up Well hopefully they call them for a holding one of these times too.

Speaker 1:

Let's go to Holly Rowe with a little bit more.

Speaker 3:

Coach looked at her like enough. Said that's what I said, what I said Enough. Said you got something else to say, Holly? You got something else to say before you pitch to Holly.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I mean, let's be honest, stevie, you played on the defensive line. There's holding on every play, every single play. If we really want to be honest with everybody.

Speaker 3:

And also I can't remember if it was first half or second half, but we got a roughing the passer penalty on Beck, on Carson Beck.

Speaker 3:

So it was the first half and I didn't see roughing the passer. He was already going down as our guy was aiming for the midsection and I guess he got him, grazed him across the head, but at that point, you know, he's kind of a runner running away, you know, and so we're playing football, man, if he's going down and we're going down and make sure he's going down, that's just football, it's a football play.

Speaker 4:

Right, Our momentum carries you into the offensive player. These quarterbacks, man, I get it, you need to protect them, but we're going too far. But I'm not saying there's any conspiracy, because here's what I'm getting sick of Everybody, all these SEC officiating. They're biased against Texas. They suck da-da-da-da-da. The same thing they were saying about the Big 12 officials. You know they're listen, listen. I don't know why. I just think texas has bad luck for some awkward reason.

Speaker 4:

I just I don't know. I don't think they're you. These I'm going to put it, set the record straight these officials are not anti-texas, not any of them. It's just so. The penalty.

Speaker 3:

So I'm sorry. Let me go off last. Last year, though, and I watched the Big 12, big 12. They don't have any bias on any team. They're just bad officials, they're just bad. They're just bad across the board. And this year I don't. Yeah, you're right, I don't see bad officiating because we're Texas. If it's a bad call, they've had bad calls on both sides, you know so, but they're. I will say this the officiating in the SEC is head and shoulders above the officiating that was in the Big 12 when we were there. That's fair.

Speaker 4:

Now, stevie alluded to it. Gunnar Stockton was a highly recruited quarterback that Georgia has. This is their backup Carson Beck. Clearly Texas put a beating on him and toward the end of the first half or at the last play he was hurt and Texas did their job defensively. Now Gunner a little bit, I don't know. He just it kind of has the effect that Arch Manning has when he goes in. But Gunner, for a backup quarterback, did a great job. But toward the end of the game he took one of the most vicious hits that I have ever have seen in a while when Andrew Makuba, the hard-hitting defensive back. This was called targeting at first, but it was a clean. For a modern-day hit, it was perfect. He had no choice but to blast them or they would have gone in for the touchdown. Woo Cuba put it on him.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he did, came downhill.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, he sure did. That's how you do it on run support and I think Kirby's smart what he said. I don't have it verbatim, but he complimented Texas. I think he said it's the most physical team we play all year or have played.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and I think that people are starting to take notice of that man. I always say that my joke in the stands whenever I'm with all my friends in the stands at DKR. I always say that my joke in the stands. Whenever I'm with all my friends in the stands at DKR, I always turn around and say them Texas boys hit hard. And we always do we always hit hard.

Speaker 3:

We always came downhill. We weren't afraid of anybody. So from back in my days, all the way up. So, and you can see that last night those Texas boys hit hard.

Speaker 4:

They did and it's going to be a special. The next game on the schedule will be special for Andrew Makuba and we'll get to that shortly, but I don't think this needs too much time spent on it. But why do you think it is? Why does the criticism of Quinn continue? Guy put up numbers, he put the team in position, but they just couldn't punch it is. Why does the criticism of Quinn continue? Guy put up numbers, he put the team in position, but they just couldn't punch it in. It's not all his fault. Those are penalties.

Speaker 3:

I think the position that we're in and we were number two in the country yesterday and then what we dropped to number three, five, something like that, or five, I'm sorry, yes, right, I'm sorry, yes, we dropped to number five, right. And so when you look at a five team and a number three team or five and up team, you look at the quarterback as being spectacular, like Heisman talking, heisman Trophy talks, right, and Quinn was Heisman Trophy talks, but he isn't anymore because I think people are starting to see that he's mortal. But he's a game manager. The real start of the Texas offense is the play calling and the script that goes through. That Sark goes through right. And so if you can execute those script plays, then you're going to be successful on offense, and he is successful on offense.

Speaker 3:

But when it's time to make some magic happen, I don't think that we're seeing Quinn make the magic happen, and I'm trying not to criticize the kid. He's doing a fantastic job, he's putting up phenomenal numbers. But when you he's passing the numbers test, he's passing the stat test, but when you take the eye test, you know it's a little bit different. But I also will take Quinn over most quarterbacks in the country too, because, quinn, coupled with Sarkeesian's extensive playbook, they are a match made in heaven, almost you know. So I hats off to him. I think the person that Sarke needs to have at quarterback needs to be very, very smart to handle his playbook. I think the person that Sark needs to have at quarterback needs to be very, very smart to handle his career.

Speaker 4:

I agree with that you have to be. It's a complex offense. I just keep seeing it. I laugh now the criticism I see of Quinn on social media Of course, most things on social media are comical because they're heated opinions. The one stat that really threw me off you know that was Georgia basically said again for the second time you're going to have to beat us in the air. They held Texas 31 yards rushing, very similar to last time, and then this wore down that defensive line by the third and fourth quarter and they got theirs, but Texas still outgained them.

Speaker 3:

But you also just said it. Going back to the question just a minute ago, is you got to beat us in the air because Quinn is going to do very well, he's going to bend and then he may break. You know what I mean. So we'll get down the field, but we haven't capitalized. We only had one touchdown yesterday.

Speaker 4:

I would venture to say collectively, texas and Georgia are probably top four most physical teams in the playoff field to which we need to get to. It was revealed in the moment that was finally finalized. It was very March Madness selection show-esque Play.

Speaker 5:

Clemson in the bracket and play them at home is the Texas Longhorns. Texas and Clemson in a first-round game in Austin. Winner gets Arizona State.

Speaker 4:

How about that? You know you do get that home game, which is beautiful, and Clemson we'll get to them shortly. But I'm going to remove the banner on the lower left kind of help simplify how all this works. The five conference champions they get automatic bids okay. But the top four ranked in the CFP poll, top four ranked conference champions well, they get buys, which I don't agree with. I think it should be the top four in the country regardless, not just because you're a conference champion.

Speaker 4:

So this kind of dictates to you how the flow goes. It'll go first round, the round of 12, the round of eight. How the flow goes, it'll go first round, the round of 12, the round of eight and the round of eight. Are those big bowl games, okay, the major New Year's Day bowl games, some of them, and then the semifinals. It will have the orange and cotton and then the national championship in Atlanta. So all the round of 12 are on campus. Texas will host Clemson, dabo Sweeney and you've got a hometown guy in, cade Klubnick from Westlake. You've got Makuba who used to play there. Is that Texas now? I mean, it's just funny how this all works out.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and I'm really excited about it, man, if you really look at it and you try to map out the road to the national championship game, I like what we got, man. I like that we can get Clemson at home and we do what we need to do and beat Clemson at home at home, and we do what we need to do and beat Clemson at home. Then we have ASU in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta again, you know, and the other thing about that is I don't think the Peach Bowl ever seen such a matchup before. Yeah, typically it's an SEC team in the Peach Bowl, right, and now we got yeah, usually. And so now we got ASU, a West Coast team and then Texas in the Peach Bowl.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, of course Arizona State is the Big 12 champions.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, exactly, so well, they're typically not in the Big 12. So it's just weird to me right now.

Speaker 6:

So it's just going to take some time to get used to it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Oregon's a Big.

Speaker 6:

Ten champion.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, exactly, A Big Ten champion is Oregon. But anyway, it's going to be fun man. But I think that Texas has the easier road right now to the national championship game.

Speaker 4:

No, you're right about that. So if you notice something, alabama didn't get in. The three lost Alabama, which I firmly agree with. I'm not saying they're not worthy. Smu got in. They lost the ACC championship to Clemson at the end and they chose SMU. God, this makes me feel like we're in the early 80s, mid-80s with the Pony Express.

Speaker 4:

They showed everybody what NIL looked like before it was legal. But they'll go to Penn State. I mean, if you look at that, look, three of the four matchups in that round of 12 are in cold-weather cities, notre.

Speaker 1:

Dame Penn.

Speaker 4:

State Ohio State.

Speaker 3:

Oh wow, you're exactly right, and it should be beautiful here in Austin, texas.

Speaker 4:

Should be. I hope so, and they move it to the daytime instead of night here in Austin.

Speaker 3:

So it starts at three right.

Speaker 4:

Correct Two or three. Two or three, I can't remember.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yep.

Speaker 3:

So we'll see, man, it's going to be fun.

Speaker 4:

It's going to be a lot of fun, and you know Texas will, if they continue to advance. If they advance and they beat Arizona State, they'll more than likely play either Oregon, ohio State or Tennessee in the national semifinal. But I got to ask your thoughts though.

Speaker 3:

What's your thoughts on Bama being left out? That's a tough one for me, man, because their strength of schedule is pretty tough. They played Georgia and they beat Georgia. Right, they beat Georgia, they beat Georgia. So they beat Georgia but still get left out of the playoffs. And if we are all being honest, if we're all being honest, you take most of these teams in the top 12 and put them up against SMU. Smu doesn't win. Okay, that's the strength of schedule test and eye test and all that stuff. If you're really being honest, man, this bracket looks weird with SMU in it. It does, yeah, but I'm happy that they're there. It's a great campus, great school. They're raising a lot of money and they're going to change their program up there.

Speaker 4:

No, it's changing. And then, of course, boise State.

Speaker 3:

I mean they're three wins away from a national championship, exactly, and Boise State is a weird team, kind of weird to be in there, but they had gotten really good after they did that fake play in the Fiesta Bowl that year. It was pretty fun Against Oklahoma, yeah, and so they've been good for a while now. But in our lifetime SMU has not historically been good enough to be in this round of 12 college football playoffs. So it's a little weird to see that and not to have Alabama in it 100%.

Speaker 4:

But you look at Alabama to go to a really bad Oklahoma team and get demolished at Oklahoma that hurt them. I think that was the final straw. They lost to two, I think two 6-6 teams.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, no, I hear you I hear you teams.

Speaker 6:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I hear you. I actually think I remember now you can blame Auburn for that, because Alabama was looking forward to Auburn and did not take OU seriously. That's why they're not in OU's defense flexed their.

Speaker 4:

Oh my God. I mean you get defensive points. It's insane. So Texas will host Clemson in the round of 12, and it's going to be a good day here in Austin, texas. It'll be the first time to experience something like that, and Sark was asked about that. He talked about the storylines, he talked about everything that this team and I would venture to say what you're about to hear him say is what everybody who's in this field are saying we all need a break. We need a break.

Speaker 2:

It's as simple as that. Mentally and physically this has been a grind, especially last month. We went five straight SEC games, including the championship game, two rivalry games in there with Arkansas and A&M on the road. So our guys need a little bit of a break for a couple days and then that will give us as a staff a chance to start game planning and getting to work on it so that in the latter half of the week we can start implementing those things with them. But I think from our players' perspective they were excited. There's some crossover there. Obviously, andrew Makuba playing great for us right now safety transferred from Clemson. Cade Klubnick went to high school right here in Austin, texas, so it's a coming-home party for him and he and Quinn competing in the state championship game with Michael Taft playing safety as a teammate with Cade Klubnick getting an interception off of Quinn.

Speaker 4:

So there's a lot of storylines here and I was at that game. It was the COVID season, if I remember correctly, january of 2021. They had to play the state championships in 2021 for social distancing, if I remember right, and at Jerry World and Taft showed one of the most athletic interceptions, picking off Quinn, southlake, carroll and Westlake in the state championship and you know, obviously, the Dodge Bowl, todd versus his son, riley. It's amazing when you think about these storylines and how they all come together yeah, that's why we love football, man it is, and so how Clemson got there, the only way they were going to make it to the CFP?

Speaker 4:

because they were one of. They were ranked pretty low. They had to beat SMU in order to get in and and they did it with a field goal. I love this cool shot. This is Cade Klubnick, who is really truly a good story Not only a great quarterback, but a great human being, great, family, faith-based. This was a shot of Cade Klubnick on the bench as his kicker for Clemson was about to kick that game winning field goal against SMU to win the Atlantic coast conference championship. That's so cool man. He was dancing and running, probably ran for 300 yards just in celebration alone, and that, stevie, is what I think knocked out Alabama, clemson winning. So what's your take? Real quick, on this format.

Speaker 3:

You know I mentioned Well, it's going to be debates either way, man, if it was just a 14 playoff, if it was a 12 team playoff, it's going to be debates. I like it, man. You know, get more, get the most teams you can get in there without you know burning these kids out. And I think that we're there and just put your hand in the ground and play and take it out of the hands of the talking heads like us. Yeah, all you got to do now is play. We got the field. Go and play the field. So I love this. I'm really excited. I got a phone call last week from Texas ticket office. They said do you, if we have a first round home game, do you want your tickets? And I said absolutely. And they said do you want us to use the card on file? I said absolutely. So I'm expecting to get a charge now for me to get my tickets for that game. So I'm looking forward to it, man.

Speaker 4:

I looked in my email, so November 25th apparently it was a $0 charge to hold it and I filled out the form online for my season ticket seats. So I better get tickets. That's all I got to say, because they're already going for $500, $300, $400 a piece on the secondary market Just for shits and giggles.

Speaker 4:

It's not all the bowl games, these are just some that I picked that I thought were pretty cool, because they do involve some Texas teams and one of UT's opponents. How about Sam Houston? In their second year, second or third year in FBS they won nine games and they're in their first ever bowl game they moved up from FCS to FBS. Sam Houston in Conference USA will play Georgia Southern in the New Orleans Bowl. It's pretty cool, Pretty cool story yeah.

Speaker 4:

And then our guy Jeff Traylor. It's a rebuilding year but he still goes bowling on the Myrtle Beach Bowl, which is where the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers which I think is a cock, a rooster, a rooster, I believe, a Chanticleer. I think they got a lot of cocks in the South Carolina area over there. So UTSA going to murder me? I guess you wouldn't know, huh, well, I just had to do a little research. Hey, and right down the road in Alamo Bowl. And thank God I'm going to speak for Texas fans, they don't have to worry about Alamo Bowl. And thank God I'm going to speak for Texas fans, they don't have to worry about Alamo Bowl anymore. But the.

Speaker 4:

Mormons and primetimes Buffaloes will be down in San Antonio.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's going to be fun. I need to figure out what day that's going to be on All Big 12 Bowl game. Yep, Everyone's talking about it.

Speaker 4:

Our guy Jay Norvell, eight games at Colorado State. They're going to play Miami of Ohio in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl.

Speaker 3:

That's funny, that's really funny.

Speaker 4:

Sponsored by Gin and Juice. That's funny, god. And you can jump on our facebook page stories inside the man cave facebook page and our twitter handle and instagram. We'll update the bowl games as they're all finalized I think they all are as we speak, but uh, those are fun, man. The bowl games are fun and it's an opportunity to continue the season. Hey, before we hit a break, we got to caption a photo, and I think this may be what you and I look like if we were the same age back when we were six. Look at that Two young boys. It looks like. I can't tell what that is. I don't, maybe it's soccer, I don't know, just having a cold one Fine cold Pilsner, the game.

Speaker 3:

What would you caption this Stevie? I would say hey man, they're just going to think it's apple juice. Good one, it's just apple juice, mom, it's just apple juice.

Speaker 4:

Oh my goodness, I doubt that they had apple juice in the stadium, though. So I'll be the white guy, you be the black guy.

Speaker 3:

Obviously.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that's you and I. Younger Stevie, are they looking at us? Hey, the camera's on us. Let's chug it. Let's chug it when the camera's on us.

Speaker 3:

And then here it is. I'm like ooh, Ooh.

Speaker 4:

Ooh, Hi Mom.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 3:

Busted.

Speaker 4:

Hey, we're going to take a quick, quick break. On the other side, nick Saban has a comical way of his opinion, telling us what his thoughts were on the flag planting and how to end it and UT football signing day number one in the country. We'll talk about that and we're going to hear a word from our guys at Hargrove. We'll see you on the other side of this break.

Speaker 5:

Here at Hargrove Roofing we try to think outside the box, to kind of get the creative juices flowing. So I brought in my friend Stevie Lee, former defensive tackle for the Texas Longhorns. He's going to help the team strategize, really motivate them. Light a fire.

Speaker 3:

This guy's going to help the team strategize, really motivate them. Light a fire. This guy's going to block down. This guy's going to block down.

Speaker 5:

You put your butt into the guard, and that way my Mike linebacker gets free to do what?

Speaker 6:

Not only are they going to learn a thing or two, but they're going to also leave with a great attitude and a bunch of smiles on their faces.

Speaker 1:

I'm sorry what does this have to do with roofing?

Speaker 7:

exactly get out right now.

Speaker 5:

I said get out for me, that's what it's all about. It's just having fun, making our employees have a great time.

Speaker 4:

Hargrove Roofing know who's on your roof happy holidays to you from myself and everyone with ties to stories inside the man cave podcast. I am Sean clinched a host of stories inside the man cave. We love our community and giving, especially during Christmas and the holidays. But there is one organization I truly love year round, in particular this time of year in the Austin area is Partnerships for Children, in particular, pfc's Holiday Wishes program. It's a program which benefits and serves kiddos in CPS care in Central Texas.

Speaker 4:

Holiday Wishes affords up to 7,500 kids the magic and joy of opening gifts over the next couple of weeks. So how can you get involved or help? 1,200 kids are in need of a sponsor. If you don't want to sponsor a kiddo, donations are welcome to fulfill the holiday wishes for the kids who are not sponsored. Here's where I challenge you when you have a moment, visit this website below me, partnershipsforchildrenorg and click the links for holiday wishes once you arrive to their homepage. It's rewarding and the best part, you'll make a kid smile on Christmas morning and that's simply priceless. Partnerships for Children and Stories Inside the man Cave Podcast an ideal partnership during this special month.

Speaker 1:

First, of all, I think we need guidelines, but I think to fine these schools $100,000 is like worrying about mouse manure when you're up to ears in elephant shit. All right. So you know there's got to be, we got to have guidelines. And I would be more upset with my team trying to plant the flag, because I think that's disrespectful and not doesn't show much sportsmanship. You know you want to defeat the other team, but you know this disrespect that everybody wants to show is probably not a good part of the game and I think you have to protect the brand okay, I got it.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, he's going more filter-free as the more college game day episodes occur.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I like it. It's a different side to Coach Saban man. I like it.

Speaker 4:

I love it a lot.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

You've got to protect the brand as a whole. It's not individual schools or water bottle incidents. You've got to figure out a way. It's just $100,000 for some of these programs and nothing at all.

Speaker 3:

Nothing.

Speaker 4:

That's your kicker, that's it, yeah, and I owe money. So real quick. Texas finished number one in the country in the early signing period, addressed on the line defensive front, and they had Justice Terry, the big defensive tackle, out of Georgia. Sign with Texas. Would, have been fitting for them to beat Georgia the next day, two days later. So CJ Vogel of On Texas Football, just briefly, this is a part of our interview. It's about 18 seconds on his thoughts because he follows recruiting thoroughly.

Speaker 6:

It's exactly what you'd like to see. If you're a Texas fan, right, you know you've developed and produced the number one defensive team in the entire country so far in 2024. And you go out and you sign the number one defensive class, an overall class, in my opinion. I think the defensive side of the ball here is tremendous.

Speaker 4:

So what's your thoughts, stevie? We thought that maybe the D-line may have experienced some growing pains maturation this year. Not the case, because you had some guys like Vernon Broughton and when they lost to Vondre and Byron Murphy there really hasn't been much of a drop off Signing guys like that they did in this early signing period. What have you heard, or what are your thoughts on that? On this class, they're bringing it.

Speaker 3:

Big physical defense man. Our defense is just getting more stacked and stacked and we're going to need that because, you know, uh, sustaining uh success in the sec, you need a good defense. Uh, I'm really excited about the direction this program is in, uh has taken, and it's going uh, so, uh, the recruiting, they they're, they're recruiting what they want. With our success, their success on the field, we're getting whatever we want. You know. So it feels like that coach say you know, I want him, him, him, he's getting him, him and maybe him, you know. So he's basically getting anything and everything that he wants. With the NIL resources that we have at the University of Texas and the success that we're having on the field, we can get anybody we want at this point.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and shout out to CJ Vogel on Texas Football. Stevie, you contribute to them on Mondays. What's the name of that podcast?

Speaker 3:

It's the Winning Drive.

Speaker 4:

The Winning Drive, winning Drive, it's going to be on at about 3, 3.30.

Speaker 4:

3.30. 3.30. See, we're going to cross-promote and Bobby Burton is a legend in the recruiting game. He's a fine American too, except that he lives in Houston. That's the only problem, hey, back home. So shout-out to CJ Vogel, and you can see that episode on our Facebook page and YouTube and on Instagram. It's because CJ has some good points, because he's seen all these talents, most of them up close and personal, and he's highly educated. All right, texas high school football. We're down to the state semifinals, the final four. They're started. With 32 Austin area schools, there's only four remaining. And here's all who is remaining. It's going to be really quick, man. I'm gonna have to find a way to use that music more. That was the music of our kicking things off.

Speaker 1:

that long episode that we crushed.

Speaker 4:

That was awesome Beginning of the season, just amazing. Westlake this was a rebuilding year and they beat Lake Travis to go to the semifinals. Wimberly, doug Warren and what he's done over there, and what Vandergriff has become is and what Vandegrift has become they are monsters and Shiner down in, I think, near the Gonzales area. They're still technically a part of this area. Shiner's a state power. I don't understand how they win every year. They spend money on their football program.

Speaker 4:

I'll tell you that it's a good time. And Galena Park, North Shore and Westlake, that's big time. Yep, Huge Power Tick-tocking in the man cave. I love it when our parents have jokes and can dish out the sexual humor. It's always a good thing, Try this?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, just put it in your mouth, swallow and act like you like it. Yeah, what we're so funny.

Speaker 3:

You should practice what you preach.

Speaker 6:

But I told you I choke on small bones. Okay.

Speaker 4:

Put it in your mouth, act like you like it.

Speaker 3:

And she chokes on small bones.

Speaker 6:

Chokes on small bones.

Speaker 3:

Be careful with Grandma. She got those zingers bro.

Speaker 4:

She's bringing them.

Speaker 6:

Hey, ben, tell me something good he's bringing them.

Speaker 4:

Hey man, tell me something good, stevie Lee, probably the best part of the show because we get to deliver positivity and get to hear what you have to say on delivering some smile to somebody's life Life or their lives In plural, we hope we have more than one viewer or listener. In plural, we hope we have more than one viewer or listener. December is fast and furious, but it's fun and we've got a lot to be grateful for as football fans in this city or those who love Texas or SMU or the other 10 programs. But tell me something good, my brother.

Speaker 3:

Man, something good right now. Let's keep it. Football, the college football playoffs is here. We know who we're going to play, we know where we're going to play. We got a home game. Enjoy it, guys. It's going to be fun. This is really fun. This is a really fun time in college football.

Speaker 3:

I'm glad that these kids can actually make money off their likeness nowadays. You know, know, back when I played, you know people will walk around with your jersey and you wouldn't see a cent of that money. You know. So, um, it's, uh, I'm. This is a new era of college football with the, the kids get being able to uh, get paid, uh, with off their likeness. It's a new area for era of football when there's a 12-team playoff system and get it out of the hands of the talking puns and and the media and just just put your hand in the ground and play. This is fun. This is going to be good for college sports. This is good for TV ratings, everything, and it's just, it's just fun all around man. So y'all smile and be happy that these kids are going out to perform for you guys and just be grateful for it. You know?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, exactly, I couldn't have said it any better, I think. To add to that, I think it's amazing that you get to see post season football at the highest level on campuses.

Speaker 6:

Yep.

Speaker 4:

That's four campuses get to host. That's never been done as far as the highest level, and you get to see it here in Austin's one of those four places, man, and that is really cool. And go and visit our Twitter, facebook. We've got all those matchups in the graphic you saw. So, man, happy holidays, happy Kwanzaa, happy Hanukkah, god, merry Christmas.

Speaker 4:

There's so many holidays, but it's a season, it's a month of just being happy and helping one another and spreading joy and picking people up. And so for the great city of Shreveport, louisiana, the birth of the hometown of the Stevie Lee and his family and the home of Hargrove Roofing and that wonderful family, and to Nacogdoches, texas, the home of my college alma mater and my hometown, austin, texas, oh, it's a beautiful place, we are very lucky. And to you, the viewer, listener, wherever you are, you're a beautiful human, don't forget it. Merry Christmas, happy holidays to you, and be sure to like and share All of our episodes and social media content. Follow Stevie. If his posts don't make you laugh, he'll give you a smile for no reason whatsoever. Stevie Lee and his family and the OG man Cave Boys, that being Harbaugh Harbs, big Mike and the Coach Mo what do you tell them, stevie Lee?

Speaker 6:

We out. You see the drip and I'm fitted up.

Speaker 5:

I'm in my car in the Giddy Up.

Speaker 3:

I said get out you.
