Speaker 2:

Hi, I'm Stevie Lee, former defensive tackle for the University of Texas.

Speaker 3:

And I'm Clyde.

Speaker 2:

Hargrove, I'm a roofer, I also saw action in 52 games and I fix a lot of roofs. I also won a Rose Bowl and never lost to A&M and I fix a lot of roofs. Right, stevie, alright, alright.

Speaker 1:

I'm sorry I zoned out a little bit. So are you going to say that thing about Hargrove roofing? Hargrove roofing? Know who's on your roof? Is this even going to work as a commercial.

Speaker 2:

I'm an untrained meteorologist.

Speaker 1:

Reporting on the snow. I mean it's in the streets, Damn.

Speaker 3:

Stevie, we've all been there oh, yep hey, whatever ice in our part of the country, and even back in your home area, streetport louisiana, when it ices, snows, none of us know how to handle it.

Speaker 2:

Shut it down. Shut it down and stay in the house.

Speaker 3:

That's right, man. So this past week, man, we had a little snow and ice, and you know everybody, you know what. There wasn't a lot of productivity for those who have career jobs, so to speak.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Yep, we hunkered down and stayed in the house with the kids so here, before we get it rolling, man, I gotta show you this is so if you're watching from the north, the midwest, from about oklahoma, up of the northeast, hey, we see you. Uh, folks in ohio who have been tuning in on youtube. So, hey, hey, much love to Ohio. I got a feeling I know why you are watching lately because of Ohio State Texas CFP National Championship. But this is how we roll down here in the South and in Texas. This is a guy that from my SFA days he's a rodeo star and out on his ranch, let's just call this snow skiing Texas style.

Speaker 2:

This is so fun.

Speaker 3:

That's how we do it, baby.

Speaker 2:

That's how we do it. I love it.

Speaker 3:

Did junior girls did they get? We do it, baby, it's how we do it, I love it. Did you and your girls? Did they get out in it, play in it in the neighborhood, anything like that?

Speaker 2:

They are over it, man. My youngest one walked out in the driveway, put her feet, her footprints, in the driveway snow and then walked back in the house and we all snowed it up on the couch.

Speaker 3:

Hey, before we get it going, man for this episode I am Sean Klintz, the co-host of the Pass Rush with Stevie Lee, the host of Stories Inside the man Cave. This is our guy, stevie Lee, right here. He played defensive tackle for Mack Brown the great Mack Brown, who we are going to get on this podcast here in the next few weeks. We're going to nail down a date, promote it so you won't miss it. And, coming up on this episode of the Pass Rush with Stevie Lee, we've got a lot to unbundle. It's not going to be as long of an episode as you're used to. Be sure to follow us on each of our social media platforms. It helps us grow and it helps you understand and be informed when we have content. Share, like, follow and subscribe for free to our youtube page. And we have to have to give a shout out to the hard grow family. Without them, this would not even be possible, and stevie lee is the face of hard grow roof am I the face of hard grow roofing?

Speaker 3:

well, unofficially, I I think you are no Hargrove Roofing man.

Speaker 2:

Those are my guys Hargrove Roofing. Know who's on your roof.

Speaker 3:

Know who's on your roof, all right, so coming up, we know the Longhorns football season is over with. It moves quickly. It was a long season, but that's good. There's roster moves. So far, the coaching staff remains intact for the most part, but nowadays there's a lot of movement on rosters across the country. Texas has a lot of people to replace who are going to the NFL. Guys who left through the portal we're going to talk about it and the Wall Street Journal, their most valuable college football programs and what they place to value on each program. I think you can take a guess where UT is and we're going to talk about it. Man, stevie Lee, man, are you ready? Are you ready for this?

Speaker 2:

Let's do it.

Speaker 3:

Let's ride baby.

Speaker 2:

Hey, bitch, I'm from Texas. Well, we still ride in swangas and put diamonds hey.

Speaker 3:

DKR looks beautiful from every aspect, every element. See, even we had some of that white stuff here in Austin Texas, just not as much as you. I mean, they had more snow in Baton Rouge on the ground than they did in Fairbanks, alaska. Yeah, Isn't that wild.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that storm came down through the south south of Texas. Houston had more snow than us.

Speaker 3:

A lot more.

Speaker 2:

Yeah and went all. I mean seeing the pictures of beaches being snowed up like it was.

Speaker 3:

That was weird to see, to me, man, the Galveston seawall. You couldn't see it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah absolutely.

Speaker 3:

And then you know in New Orleans which was bizarre people skiing down Bourbon Street and playing hockey.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, nola is a hockey town now. Well, let's get into it. Man, say goodbye to 2024. Back-to-back, phenomenal seasons. I don't want to say it, but if you want to say it, texas is back. They have won 25 games the past two seasons. Steve Sarkeesian brings stability. There's stability on that coaching staff. How do you encapsulate as we close the book on 2024 and start preparing for the second signing class? For Texas, it's going to be portal additions. What did 2024 do for the Texas football program, where you could check it off and say you feel comfortable with the stability?

Speaker 2:

2024, you could check it off and say you feel comfortable with the stability. 2024 solidified the whole saying of we're back, because if you do it two times, twice back to back, we got something special brewing. You know what I'm saying? That's what it showed me, man, we went to the semifinals of the playoffs two years ago. Is that two years ago? Yeah, and then, well, last year, and then this year, we go to the semifinals of the playoff. We have sustainability, success, sustainable success. So we just need to keep building off of that. And now these kids are they recruits or are we calling them free agents now?

Speaker 3:

What are we calling them?

Speaker 2:

Signees, Signees yeah, exactly Now, the signees that actually want to go somewhere. And you know, yes, make a little money, but actually go somewhere and be successful in a winning program. We're showing you that we're a winning program by doing it back to back. So that's what 2024 showed me that we can do it for a long period of time and keeping our staff together. That's huge. I actually got a bet that I'm actually losing right now. I thought that our staff's so good they're going to get poached.

Speaker 3:

Yep, it usually happens. It's a good sign.

Speaker 2:

If it happens, yeah it is, and so it's an even better sign that we keep them. My bet was two and a half coaches was going to get poached.

Speaker 3:

A half.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, who would bet? So I said getting poached two and a half. So it can't be two, it has to be three, you know.

Speaker 3:

Oh, you're talking about, like the Vegas odds.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but me and a friend bet that. He said we're not going to lose any. I said we're going to lose two and a half.

Speaker 3:

Well, I've got a feeling. You know I take you on that bet, but now that I'm really thinking about it, I don't know this. You know, you and I are both told a lot of things a lot of things. Some of it's exaggerated, some of it's okay. There's some legs to that, but it's not truly reality and some of it is factual information. About 25% of my information is legit.

Speaker 2:

But I think, and 75% is bullshit, bullshit.

Speaker 3:

Bullshit, but what I'm trying to get at is the simple fact that I think, from what I've gathered, that a lot of members of this staff they are all in on staying together until they win a championship it seems like it, man.

Speaker 2:

It seems like it now. Let's not, um, let's not fool ourselves right when we're going to talk about this later. We got the money to keep them. So, yes, they may be wanting to win a championship, because the University of Texas is out there matching people's offers.

Speaker 3:

That and then all these contracts Sark's not the only one Most contracts for coaches, even in the lower Division I level, if you want to go down to Division II. I don't know about Division III. So FCS, fbs, division II, a lot of these contracts are incentive-laden you win X amount of games.

Speaker 3:

You go to the playoffs. You go to a bowl. You win a conference title. You win a playoff game. You add chips, so to speak. Money, so to speak. From what I've heard, sark rewarded his assistants some more of that pool of bonus money for what they're doing About 2025, what is it that they can sustain? What is it about 2025 that gives you the fan? Everybody hope that they can sustain this. Make it three years in a row.

Speaker 2:

One we got that young quarterback that's back there now. We know Quinn is moving on to the NFL and we had a backup quarterback come in and do really well for us and if he has a whole off season getting number one reps and getting timing down with these receivers, that's going to be great. Number two PK is back. Defense was awesome. Number three we know Sark knows how to hit the transfer portal. Yeah, with kids that are transferring in and out, and so I'm very optimistic about 2025 and 2026 season, and so I guess everyone is over there optimistic and smiling and licking their chops and just can't wait already. What's in store? Coach Becton has got these kids back in the gym, back in the weight room, back on the field running already, and it's going to be a glorious 2025. For the insider stuff, you just got to wait and see until I go to spring ball, yep. So stay tuned, guys. Stay tuned. So stay tuned guys.

Speaker 3:

Stay tuned. So you mentioned it, the fan base, if you're not already. A lot of people understand how it works and I think some fans need to start. I think gradually will. This is across the country. Enough with the negativity for the reason or reason. A young man enters the portal, the portal. You can't blame the kid, you can't blame the coaches. Uh, it's the system. Right now, the portal is necessary and I believe there were nine, nine longhorns who are in the portal. I have already found homes some in the Big 12, and some other programs.

Speaker 3:

You've got nine guys. You're a fellow defensive lineman and you see three or four defensive linemen, maybe five, who are in the portal at new homes, arizona. The guy who came in with Bill Norton transferred back to Arizona. You got Aaron Bryant defensive lineman, who's going to Vanderbilt, then a couple others are going to Mississippi State. When you try to have these conversations with the fans, you and I understand this. Most do, but some still have that not resentment, but like why? Why would you leave this defense? How would you tell the fans a basic surface level, why? Because you just rattled off reasons why. Pete Kwiatkowski, dc development Are these kids that are leaving that have found new homes, some in the SEC and Big 12? Is it that they're not going to develop at Texas? What is it if you had to guess?

Speaker 2:

One of the things is we got some phenomenal athletes at the University of Texas and if you feel like you're not going to see the field and you're trying to go on to the next level, then you might need to see the field in another program. Maybe PK's defense doesn't fit your body style or your playing style. Those factor in what I don't like. What factors in is if someone needs a check and they're just going to go chase money. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah, that's part of it too, unfortunately.

Speaker 2:

So you alluded to NIL is good for the game and good for football. I'm going to push back on that a little bit. Nil is good for the individual and it's needed, and we do need these kids to get paid off their name, image and likeness. But I don't think it's good for football as a whole and we got to figure out a way to protect the brand but still allow NIL for these kids, right. So that's all in the works and it's still the wild, wild west right now, but I don't think it's good for the brand and for football as a whole. It's just good for the individual right now.

Speaker 3:

Well said it is. It gives people an opportunity. But the thing is, we've talked about this a lot in other podcasts, other media outlets. Everybody has a good point that what NIL is right now was not how it was intended to look like. Absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

But I'm all for a kid leaving college that don't play on in the NFL. He can leave college with half a million dollars in his pocket and that's okay.

Speaker 3:

Yeah Well, and to those who don't say why the university's not each university's not paying them it's through collectives.

Speaker 2:

Collectives.

Speaker 3:

Fund raised independently.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you'll see this Wall Street Journal post here I'll show you.

Speaker 3:

So what are your needs If you quit snap judgment? What are your portal needs for Texas that they need to go after and fill?

Speaker 2:

I think we need to fill some defensive tackle spots 100%. Defensive tackle spots. I think we need a couple BBs Maybe. Yeah, receivers, we lost two office oh and we oh. We lost to two offers alignment, but we got some. We had some good studs coming behind these guys too, so four of the starters on the whole line are gone four of the five, yeah, starters, yeah, but we had some good guys behind them Goosby, yeah, goosby.

Speaker 2:

Good, big, solid guys behind them. So I think that we're good. We may need to go out there and and and research some people that may be out there on the old line, but I think receivers Um and um, yeah, that and yeah, that's about it. We're solid at quarterback.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I would say that you know. And Trey Owens and Arch Manning We've all heard of Arch If you haven't, you might want to get out of hibernation. His uncles are pretty good, but apparently his dad was the best athlete and maybe his mom was the best athlete of them all. But when you look, you mentioned receivers. So keep in mind Texas, early signing class number one in the country oozes with athletic ability. They've got O-linemen, they've got receivers. The thing that I want to focus on is you know if you're going to go after the portal obviously D-line, I think, a tight end, perhaps because you lose. You lost an eye block.

Speaker 2:

Oh yes.

Speaker 3:

And, but honestly he wanted more numbers. He was a good blocking tight end too, and that's he did help. You know you could probably you can make, if you want to be critical. That edge wasn't sealed off against Ohio State very well. But I don't blame the kid. If he's going to help his stock he can go ahead. But there's one name that I've been following. I don't know if anything has happened over the weekend, but you remember that third receiver for Ohio State, carnell Tate.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

That's in the mix for him.

Speaker 2:

That's good. Yeah, we need a couple more receivers, and we need receivers that can blow the top off the defense, because Arch can get it out there to them.

Speaker 3:

You know you have Bonds gone, golden I think and then you've got. You know number 11 was a good special teams guy and a good receiver. But this freshman class if you go through those names, there's some names on that signing class. I mean we're talking about quick twitch, elite, speed, over-the-top guys that you were referencing. So we're going to see a busy one. This spring period opens, this next portal window opens and you know Texas has hosted players over this past weekend.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

They were on campus this week and you're talking about some of the top talents in the country at various positions. They're on campus and some of them were back for a second time. All right, I've got to get your thoughts on Ohio State, the team who knocked off Texas in the semifinal. They jumped on Notre Dame and shockingly shockingly, I've got to give credit Notre Dame showed fight.

Speaker 3:

They did shockingly, I gotta give credit, notre Dame showed fight. They did. They made it interesting late. But what's your thoughts about Ohio State? I know what you're going to say. Initially, the national championship game was the week prior absolutely it was, absolutely it was.

Speaker 2:

And don't argue with me, go argue with somebody else, because that was the national championship game. But Ohio State man, hats off to them. We lined the ball up on the ball lot and they beat us right. And then they did it again the next week and they beat Notre Dame. Notre Dame is still a championship team, right. So they did try to come back they still, but they came up short. Come back they still, but they came up short.

Speaker 2:

Ohio State crowned you got to crown them. They're the best football team in the country in the NCAA. But they're well coached. They made adjustments a little bit better than we did. That last drive. We kind of got it in our own way because we can punch the ball in the end zone. We had problems with that the year before last and we got rid of that problem and we just still should ride with what, what we were doing. And then we kind of got cute and and didn't punch the ball in at the end, at the, at the end of the game. So, but hats off to Ohio state. The first game of the year is against Ohio state, at Ohio state. So we get another shot at them. It's not for the big game, but it's some kind of redemptive qualities in that game, so it's going to be fun. But they came out and played and they knew they wanted to win the national championship and that's exactly what they did.

Speaker 3:

They're the best team in the country. Yeah, there's no doubt.

Speaker 2:

Michigan can say we beat them, though.

Speaker 3:

So that trickles down the tree. It goes Ohio State, michigan, texas. It's Texas beat Michigan. What was hilarious? And first off, before I say anything, before we talk about this golf cart crash, which was absolutely hilarious. Golf cart crash, which was absolutely hilarious. Buckeye Nation, you owe Ryan Day an apology for being an asshole to your head coach. I mean, I get it. You lose to your rival four years in a row. I get it. You're as passionate.

Speaker 3:

Texas and Ohio State fan bases are both very passionate why Ohio State has won eight, nine national championships. I have nothing but respect, man, I can't wait to see the horseshoe one day, hopefully this year. I hope to tailgate with some Ohio State fans. But, oh, send Ryan Day a handwritten note. All of you Apologize to that man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

That's all.

Speaker 2:

They were ready to fire him after he lost to Michigan, and then, all of a sudden, he's our best friend, yeah.

Speaker 3:

So the CFP staff, you know all these bowl games, the big bowl games. They have golf carts that take players from the locker room to the media availability or press conference, the chosen ones. Well, this poor girl, she misjudged how long the golf cart was and man almost threw Coach Ryan Day on the concrete wall. Thank you, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay. Will Howard laughing his ass off and he saw the will. The whole system was bent.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she broke it. She broke it.

Speaker 3:

I mean, poor girl, she just kind of do her job, get the players. She should have put it in reverse a little longer.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she should have.

Speaker 3:

You can't turn those on a dime.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she said women drivers back about 25 years.

Speaker 3:

Jake from State Farm just canceled a policy, absolutely so, stevie, you mentioned it. I thought this was an interesting compilation here. Wall Street Journal made a list of the most valuable college football programs and there's a lot of metrics that went into it. The author of this, the valuation of a program, you know, success, all levels of revenue, all levels of revenue, whether it be fanfare, tickets, alcohol, the attraction, the sexiness of a program. And this is what they came up with and put a value on it. And Ohio State and Texas neck and neck, which is no surprise.

Speaker 2:

Right, Neck and neck Big flagship schools for their state. But you know that's a lot of money, man, and so when you look at that, you got to be okay with NIL and these kids getting revenue sharing and things like that. So that's all I want to say about that. It's a lot of money, guys.

Speaker 3:

I mean, it's kind of a virtual figure through his formula. And, if you know, A&M's not far behind and you look at all these SEC schools, so there's Texas, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, A&M, Oklahoma, six of the ten, and Oklahoma will figure it out. And when I say they're a global national brand, they are man. You recognize that O in you. All right, Stevie, Jerry Jones did it. He hired somebody, Brian Schottenheimer, part of the Marty Schottenheimer family tree, literally not coaching tree.

Speaker 2:

I love that tree.

Speaker 3:

I don't know, man, I'm going to become fanboy. And you know me. The last two years I have removed my emotions. I finally had enough. I wanted to win, but I'm done. And this move right here from the outside looking in horrible yeah man, horrible, yeah.

Speaker 2:

And what you're telling everyone is, with this hire, you just hire within, so he's probably going to keep the same coaching staff. So you didn't really change anything on your coaching staff. No, you know what I mean. Yeah, he's going to probably keep the same defensive staff. I just didn't get this move, man. We got all these people out there. Pete Carroll was out there, he got the job at, yeah, but 73 years old. Listen and I hear that, but for me he's a young, 73. He is.

Speaker 3:

When we're 73,. I hope we're as vibrant as he is.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but he can lead a football team. He's done it on both levels.

Speaker 3:

Should have ran the football that one time.

Speaker 2:

He should have. He should have, but I think he learned his lesson, you know. So I think that's a great hire for the Raiders actually, but you have all these people out there and you just go and hire within. Jerry Jones is one of those people that's just got to get out of his own way, but he's not, and he explained it that he bought the team so he can work with his kids and actually do the work. He didn't buy the team. He bought a job and I get that, it's his money and it's the work. He didn't buy the team. He bought a job and I get that. It's his money and it's his team. He can do whatever he wants to do with it, but we're going to still talk about it and we're going to still be fans and things like that, but I don't get this move. Man, this is mind-boggling to me. Just all you did was hire within and not do a whole. Nother system change or direction.

Speaker 3:

No, it's a comfort hire. Listen. This is not what we're saying. What anyone is saying is not a shot at Schottenheimer. I think he's a rising star or a rising prospect as a coach system. Now I hope we all eat crow. But how are you going to change things if you keep cycling in what's been there? That's what any business? You've got to change your fabric. The press conference is Monday morning, that's tomorrow. I don't understand this BS man. I wish Schottenheimer tons of success, dallas, wherever he goes.

Speaker 2:

This is a story. I'm going to keep the names out of this to protect people. Right, there was a coach at the University of Texas that got the job and that head coach came in and interviewed a couple of the coaches that were on staff and the first question that this head coach asked they said what do you think happened? And that assistant coach looked at that new head coach and said if I knew what had happened, well hell, you wouldn't be here. Right? You get that. If I knew, if I know what had happened to our team, you wouldn't be here. If Schottenheimer knew what happened to the team last year, his head coach would still be there. You get what I'm saying. Yep, if Brian could have fixed it last year or this past season, he would have fixed it. You know what I'm saying. And so now we're giving him the head coaching job to fix something that he couldn't fix last year.

Speaker 3:

Here's to add to that just dawned on me. Yeah, the familiarity and ties to Dak with him. They've got too much money invested in Dak and CeeDee Lamb and you've got Micah Parsons coming up here soon.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

Contract. You've got more. It's an imbalance in investment. You have a lot of money on the offense, Not very much on defense. Right, you have a lot of money on the offense, Not very much on defense. You really don't. So, in my opinion, I get. You want familiarity for your quarterback, who'd help to develop. But Dak has shown. I think Dak, if he's ever full season healthy, which is hard nowadays but he has a track record of suffering some bad injuries, Significant time. So you're going to ride with Dak. So are they going to ride with Schottenheimer? I don't know, man, we're not paid to make these decisions, but to me it's just Jerry. Again, the only two coaches that he didn't have his thumb on, Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells.

Speaker 2:

And they both did very well there.

Speaker 3:

Did pretty well. And Mike McCarthy? It's not a shot at him. He played the game, but watch, mccarthy will win wherever he lands. And on top of that there's like seven former Cowboy players and coaches, assistants and players who could be playing on Super Bowl Sunday here in about two weeks.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Speaking of our next episode, we'll know who's in the Super Bowl. Yeah, I'll know that for a fact. So, mancavers, give us your thought on X slash Twitter at Stories. Mancave, don't hold back. Do it for Stevie Lee, no filter. What are your thoughts on this? It's not a hiring, it's a promotion.

Speaker 2:

Promotion yep, that's all that was.

Speaker 3:

What do you want to tell the man Cave or Stevie Lee on these thoughts? Get it out. We want some well-thought-out responses.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, please Send it in, man. I want to well thought out responses. Yeah, please Send it in, man. I want to see it. People out there are pretty creative. I want to get a good laugh out of it, man. I don't know man, I don't have anything to say anymore. When it came out, it came across my notifications that they hired Brian and I'm like this is ridiculous, what's going on in Dallas, but we can't tell the man how to spend his money.

Speaker 3:

Hey, college-based basketball season. We're about to enter where it truly matters, where teams start to come together. Texas has been struggling, but they've won three of their last four in the SEC after an 0-3 start. And I'll tell you what people are calling for Rodney Terry's job. Sec has 13 programs in the top 50 of the net rankings and Texas A&M is really good. They blew Texas out of the water in College Station about two weeks ago and they built up a 22-point lead here in Austin. But somehow to me, this says a lot about a team who can whittle that away and do this. He gets a screen from Shedrick, but ignores it, gives it up to Larry.

Speaker 1:

Clock is at seven. Here's Mark had a game winner last year against him Off the window and in Come on, mark, it's Texas.

Speaker 3:

It's first lead of the game, wade Taylor across midcourt Off the rim.

Speaker 1:

Texas comes from 22 down.

Speaker 3:

How about that man that was Off the rim? Texas comes from 22 down. How about that man that was? Are you hesitant or are you believing in this? That this?

Speaker 2:

could be that turning point for this team. Oh man, why would you ask me that? I'm a little hesitant.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think everyone is. I'm a little hesitant.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think everyone is. I'm a little hesitant. They are good and they're good in bursts and spurts, but they got to be more sustainable for me to be all in with this team. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3:

Well, the second coming I'll call Trey Johnson phenomenal talent. He commented afterward he had 30 points against A&M and his game resembles Kevin Durant a lot.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, for sure I feel like we're figuring out ways to win games, and that's really all it means is sticking together and keep defending and trying to rebound and just the will to want to win. I feel like that's what we needed, and we're starting to get that and learn how to win games.

Speaker 3:

So it's a process. You know, basketball is worse than college football in the fact that you're changing your roster often, often every year.

Speaker 1:

Portal.

Speaker 3:

NIL, it's a different animal and you have fewer bodies on that roster.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you have to hit the kids hard once they get on practice or on campus so you can implement your philosophy in them. So it's really tough in basketball because of the portal and being one-and-done players.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and Trey is more than likely a one-and-done. One-and-done players yeah, and Trey is more than likely a one-and-done. Texas 3-4 in the SEC and 14-6 overall. They have faced six teams in the top 25 here in the past few weeks.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's how good the SEC basketball is, man.

Speaker 3:

And the Big 12 was that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah. And what did you say? 13 teams in the top 50?.

Speaker 3:

Other than that, yep.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and just right here in the SEC. So we have some healthy, healthy opponents, but we got to compete. We still got to compete.

Speaker 3:

You got to fight and you got to finish games, but that showed a lot. And they've had some close games, like against Auburn and Tennessee, which you know. Auburn, tennessee two of the top four teams in the country. Look what's coming up this Wednesday. Texas faces their former head coach at Ole Miss on Wednesday.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

What are you expecting to see? And it's not in Austin, but what do you expect to see in Oxford, wednesday?

Speaker 2:

I don't know who's going to win or lose, but I think that Chris and Rodney have much respect for each other. Chris hired Rodney on his staff. I think that they're going to hug it out at center court 100% they will 100% they will.

Speaker 2:

But man, I don't know. Chris is a hell of a coach man. He's a hell of a coach and that's why we had him, and that's why we pulled him from Texas Tech. You know so. But you know, I don't know what talent he has over there at Ole Miss. But I don't know, man, I don't know if we can pull this one out.

Speaker 3:

It's going to be tough. I think everyone involved in the UT leadership, including Chris Del Conte. I think I saw a picture during the SEC media days for basketball, those two talking to each other, which is a good sign to see hey coming up in segment two. This is if you and I have. It's inevitable we're going to age to where we probably need a little assistance in a retirement home and hopefully neither one of us have to go that route. But why not sing karaoke and have pops, have beverages, that rap? But why not sing karaoke and have pops, have beverages? We got a guy who's retired, way past retired, and he is not afraid to do a solo with a Snoop Dogg favorite, stevie Lee. It's from 1993. Stick around, good fun and humor. We'll come back after these messages from Hargrove Roofing and the Boulevard.

Speaker 1:

Here at Hargrove Roofing we try to think outside the box, to kind of get the creative juices flowing. So I brought in my friend Stevie Lee, former defensive tackle for the Texas Longhorns. He's going to help the team strategize, really motivate them. Light a fire.

Speaker 2:

This guy's going to block down. This guy's going to help the team strategize, really motivate them, light a fire. This guy's going to block down. This guy's going to block down. You put your butt into the guard and that way my Mike linebacker gets free to do what.

Speaker 1:

Not only are they going to learn a thing or two, but they're going to also leave with a great attitude and a bunch of smiles on their faces.

Speaker 3:

I'm sorry. What does this have to do with roofing exactly?

Speaker 2:

Get out Right now.

Speaker 1:

I said get out. For me, that's what it's all about. It's just having fun making our employees have a great time. Hard Grove Roofing Know who's on your roof.

Speaker 3:

The Bully is a cozy Austin original bar and grill that feels like home. Boulevard Bar and Grill, nestled into this Northwest Hills strip mall, recently celebrated two decades. The drink prices are like going back to 2004. It's where familiar faces gather and everyone knows your name. The Bully family are also friends of the stories inside the man cave podcast. Boulevard barn grill on far west boulevard in northwest austin got a pocket full of rubbers. The homeboys are due soon. We'll be right back Down the street. I'm so broken and old and sitting on Jimmy's roof, whoa.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's the nursing home I want to be in. That's the one I want to go to. I got to send that clip to my daughters. I want to go to this one. Do your research, yeah. Ladies Stevie and I together. You know what I'll get me a song going. I got to get me some backup dancers. Going down the street smoking and sipping on gin and juice Laid back. Mind on my money, let's go. Mind on my money, money on my mind.

Speaker 3:

Let's go. Let's do it, that's fun, stevie, real quick man, you got a little pro tip, for I do have a pro tip, man.

Speaker 2:

Last night I went to dinner with one of my old teammates and his significant other and my significant other and we went to dinner. But after dinner we wanted to go and just listen to some music. Nothing blaring at us, but we could sit down and just have a conversation and talk. And we found a place. It's called Retail Therapy.

Speaker 2:

I've heard of it, yeah, retail Therapy. I've heard of it, retail Therapy, and actually a friend of my own, the place. It's really good music, old school hip hop type place. It's like a cold, dark bar. You don't have to go to the bar to get your drinks, you can have someone bring you drinks. They have waitresses that come by your table. It's no food or anything, which is fine, but you just want to just hang out and chill with some friends and actually have conversation. And that's exactly what we did, probably three hours there and the waitress kept our drinks full and we were just happy and just catching up with each other man. So retail therapy, go check that out. In downtown Austin I think it's 7th and Colorado is the street corner Right there, across the street from the Omni.

Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know exactly where it's at.

Speaker 1:

I actually have a famous time.

Speaker 3:

There's an underground jazz club that's been there forever. No, they took over that space.

Speaker 2:

No, they took over that space. I believe they took over that space right.

Speaker 3:

I cannot remember. We're going to make a board. We'll take the background off just for this segment and we'll get a little sponsor. I want to have a background right here for Stevie's, all his pro tips, a dry erase board right here.

Speaker 3:

No question, that'd be fun, we'll do that Maybe Hargrove, We'll get some more NIL money from them for that, no question. Hey, I got to show you something, man. This is our guy Chris Almondaris Stories inside the man Cave VIP alum. He's the GM of the Round Rock Express, the AAA affiliate of the Rangers. He has a lot of the Round Rock Express, the AAA affiliate of the Rangers. He has a lot of Gen Zers on his staff in the office and they wanted him to do a promo for the season at Dale Diamond using the younger hip Gen Z language.

Speaker 1:

Okay, bessies, let's clock if Dale Diamond passes the vibe check. We've been to play 75 skivvity baseball games in this park. Slay, go, enjoy a real cheese hot dog basket while Washington team brings up boom. See how I properly dispose of my sunflower seeds. Very demure and very mindful, hey, let them cook. Gain 200 aura points with all your daily thoughts in the Wolfman Bar. This is the app. Cookie is looking absolutely fire. Today. It's giving hitting dinners while washing over for two years. Period, del Diamond, I'm gonna keep. Keep it a hundred P, cause I rate y'all four plus four Cause that eight.

Speaker 2:

They would have to feed me those lines over and over again. Man, hey, man, tell me something good.

Speaker 3:

Stevie Lee, A little cold damp Playoff football. Football season's almost over with. Tell me something good, my brother.

Speaker 2:

Well, I was going to go that route. Man, Something good is the Super Bowl's almost here. I just bought a new TV, 75 inches. I went from 55 inches to 75.

Speaker 3:

That's what she's told me.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm 20 inches bigger now, gorilla. Yeah, man, so I'm having uh, I got the tv installed and everything and uh, something good man is today we're gonna figure out who's in the super bowl. Yeah, and it's gonna be fun. Um, whoever's gonna play is gonna be a good game. It's gonna be fun. So, man, sit back, relax, you guys. Um, get your favorite wings and snacks and get ready for some good football. The bad part about all this is football is going to be over, and then there's a dead period where we don't have nothing to do and trying to figure out things. I think I'm going to use that time to actually get some work around the house done.

Speaker 3:

About damn time you did that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3:

Exactly. I'll play off that man. Man, I'll tell you something good, hey, embrace it. Football, especially college football, is year-round. Now it really is.

Speaker 3:

We're entering the season it's uh for, especially for college, all levels, um, the portal season and the portal season some of the guys have already have new homes and then the second recruiting cycle, which really doesn't pertain to the power four. They've already signed pretty much everybody that they're going to, exception of the portal folks. But embrace it, have fun, follow it. One thing personally that I want everybody to do know your worth, know your value and know the power of your voice.

Speaker 3:

And what I mean by that is speak up for what you want and in this time of political change something that took me decades to learn don't worry about it. Control what you can control. Don't allow any of this to control your emotions.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's good, that's good man.

Speaker 3:

It took me a long time to learn that. Quit worrying about it.

Speaker 3:

Let's go, let's go. Life's too short to worry about something we really have no control over. Absolutely Live, make it happy. Much love my man, great episode. And to Treeport, louisiana, the hometown of the Stevie Lee and his beautiful family. And to Nacogdoches, texas, the home of my college alma mater, and my Austin, texas, my city, my hometown, my college alma mater and my Austin, texas, my city, my hometown. And to the entire Hargrove family and to everybody who supports us, including you watching, listening, spread the word, man, tell everybody, everybody would love to see Stevie Lee's big old smile. That smile goes from northwest Louisiana down to the boot and knowledge. And man spread the word about stories inside the man Cave Podcast. We appreciate you and if you have not heard us say it.

Speaker 3:

Happy New Year to you. Continue to achieve your goals. And to the OG man Cave boys, that being Harbaugh Harts, big Mike and the Coach Mo. What do we tell them, stevie Lee?

Speaker 1:

We out. You see the jumpy. I'm fitted up. I'm in my car, in a Gideon I said get out.
