Speaker 3:

Thank you for believing, thank you man, I'm not gonna let you down. Man, stevie man, the raw emotions from the nfl draft that was Benjamin Morris at DB for Notre Dame, it just proves to you how much is invested in this. Not only do you dream of this for so long, but all the work, all the blood I hate to be cliche blood, sweat and tears invested into it. Then that moment arrives, invested into it. Then that moment arrives you get that call before that respected franchise team in the NFL or whatever sport this may be, gives you that call and says hey, benjamin, or hey you. Hey, stevie Lee, this is Sean Clinch with the Dallas Cowboys. Congratulations, we're about to pick you.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that kind of summed it up and you can tell that kid went through a lot. But um uh, congrats to all the kids that uh that they got drafted this weekend. But that right there was. That was uh tough to watch.

Speaker 3:

That's a tearjerker tearjerker watched it, you could tell the kid it's just god, you love God, you love to see it, Love to see it. That's why I love the draft and shout out to ESPN and the NFL collaborating these drafts how they made it. They go off-site to NFL franchises, stadiums, cities and the production value has really increased. First round on the first night, then the second day is, I think, rounds two and three and then four through seven. And also a shout-out to the 512 boys locally Sean Fresh, who we had on last week from LBJ and played at Rice, got an undrafted free agent contract still hey, that's beautiful. And Taj Brooks from Manor, the leading rusher in Texas Tech football history. I believe he was drafted in the early rounds, I believe he's with the Cincinnati Bengals and all of the Longhorns and that is who we're going to talk about. But the 5-1-2 boys representing the amount of talent in the Austin area, I think they're at an all-time high.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, I was watching, you know, just to see where my Texas guys are going. And then you know you're right, some of the 5-1-12 boys were going too and I was like this is pretty cool, this is pretty cool for the area it is really cool and, by the way, if you're not aware, I am sean clinch, the co-host of stories inside the man cave podcast.

We're going to talk about your Longhorns, because it was a record record setting weekend for the longhorns. Stevie, you ready, let's do it, man, let's ride baby.

Speaker 5:

Friday I'm in the green room and it's actually funny because I had to use the bathroom straight up. I literally run to the bathroom and I come back and literally there's all these cameras around my family standing up. And then I look in the middle and there's the bathroom and I come back and literally there's all these cameras around my family's standing up. And then I look in the middle and there's the commissioner and I'm like that's my pick. I'm like what's going on? And I walk over there. He just embraced me and you know we talked for a good minute At the end he just lets me know like he's waiting on me. He knows that my name is going to get called and Trust his dad. He's like I'll wait for you. Like if your name gets called, I'll go out there and do it for you.

Speaker 3:

The Green Bay Packers select Barron.

Speaker 1:

Sorrell defensive end.

Speaker 5:

Texas. I can't even there's no words that I can put to describe just the type of gratitude that I have for that. I'm so thankful to him and I just I mean it speaks a lot for the type of man he is.

Speaker 3:

Hey, it speaks a lot to who Baron Sorrell is. He could have easily left after the, say, second round Because you're invited. If you're in the green room, you were invited to be there in this case in Green Bay. Stevie, that whole story the way Baron said it. He had to get up and go to the restroom and missed a pick and then you know you've got to zip up quickly, get out of that restroom. Once you find out things, that adrenaline rush really hits. But man, what a great story for that Texas defensive lineman, barron Sorrell, number 88, good kid, and I think Green Bay got a steal with that one.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, no question. I don't know why he dropped down to the fourth round, but they did get a steal and I think he's going to use that also with a chip on his shoulder. That's a good point yeah and go out there and prove to people why they missed out on him or why they passed on him all the way down to the fourth round.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and that's kind of going to be a theme of this episode trying to figure out why, why certain people dropped, and, of course, with the clickbait material that is on social media and through the coverage of something like this, everyone has an opinion why, and some of it was unjust, but we'll get to that shortly. Before we do that, got to give a big shout out to our family with the Hargrove Roofing Family, that is, they make this possible. Based out of Shreveport, grew and jumped the Sabine River into Texas and they have been in the Austin area for over a half a decade now and that's the connection to Stevie Lee Austin area for over a half a decade now and that's the connection to Stevie Lee and he does a great job of promoting the brand as we do on our podcast. Stevie Lee man, you do it best. Let's hear it.

Speaker 3:

Hargrove Roofing knows who's on your roof and, like Ty Harrington said, uh, on a couple of past episodes, it is important to know who's on your roof. Yeah, you never want somebody that's randomly on your roof, but when you look at, when you just tie the knot and just really look back at this draft, texas had three first-rounders, three first-round picks. You know, calvin Banks. Big tackle to New Orleans, matthew Golden.

Speaker 1:

And.

Speaker 3:

I loved his getup, his attire To the Packers, the hometown of the NFL draft this year and Jadae Barron three first rounders. I think that's the first time since 1980. 1980? I believe so.

Speaker 4:

Oh wow, three first rounders 19 that's good, that's. It was fun to watch man and uh shout out to all those guys, just uh, putting in all the hard work and um and actually uh, um, realizing a dream, a dream come true. Um, I really like that the way they carried themselves. The Texas way. Banks was excited and hanging out with his family. He knew he was going to be first round, but he wanted to be around his family. He didn't go to the draft, it was just fun to watch. It was fun to see our Texas guys that we've watched for the last, you know some four years, three or four years and just to see them get drafted and and see that that they're going to actually play on at a high level next year was fun. It was fun for me.

Speaker 3:

It's fun. And it's also fun because right now you're watching us. It's Tuesday evening and we're still talking about it After a long, hard day at the office, so to speak. In our mobile offices we're still got that adrenaline rush excited. Matthew Golden a success story as a transfer portal guy. He bettered himself, entered the portal from University of Houston. He made the right decision. He increased his draft stock. Now we mentioned 5-1-2, boys as we opened the show Today. Barron is one of those and from Connolly High School, basically in Austin, but it's in the Pflugerville Independent School District Selected 20th overall by the Denver Broncos. I may be wrong on this, but there are now five former Longhorns on the Denver Broncos roster and one thing we noticed this past season or two is how strong and the amount of faith-based Longhorns that are on the roster. And Jaday was asked at his press conference in Denver about why he feels so confident in himself as a rookie, not only lining up against some of the best in the league but lining up and competing against some on the Broncos roster period.

Speaker 2:

At the end of the day, it's my confidence and I get my confidence from God. I go out there with no worries. I'm going to go out there and play Flass, I'm going to find him. So if I'm going to find him, I can do that all day. And I can do that fast, not worried of making mistakes and things like that, just to honor him. When you honor him and just be a light bulb for him, just be his servant.

Speaker 3:

You know it's always good Stevie today, consistent, he just gets it.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, and you're right, consistent. You just said it because he had a similar interview when he won the Thorpe Award. You know he gave all the honor to God for giving him the ability to play this game. He's very consistent and I like that word that was on his that clip. There it said what is it, christ-ly, christ-ly.

Speaker 3:

I think that's the platform that posted that.

Speaker 4:

But I like that word Christ's League. I mean he's just giving honor to the most high on giving him the ability to do what he do. So that's fun, that's good.

Speaker 3:

And there's a good number of them and we'll have another wave of Longhorns just like that this time next year. All in all, a 12 Longhorns selected in the NFL draft. That's the most ever from the Longhorns in a seven-round draft. It used to be additional rounds, but after seven rounds, 12 Longhorns, that's obviously over one per round. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4:

On average more than one.

Speaker 3:

It would have had two more drafted, it would have been two Longhorns average per round, which is impressive, yeah.

Speaker 3:

And then if you think about undrafted free agents and there's a lot, I don't remember the number. I don't remember the number, but I want to say a third of the guys on NFL rosters were undrafted free agents and there's seven more of those Longhorns who signed undrafted free agent contracts, including a non-Longhorn, that being Sean Fresh, as we mentioned, from LBJ and Rice, but one. I could not believe it. He left Alabama to increase his draft stock as a talented. Well, no one's questioning Isaiah Bond's talent, but projected potentially first round didn't go, went undrafted and as of right now, as we're talking, unless something's changed, he's not under a free agent, undrafted free agent contract. Yet. Your thoughts on that?

Speaker 4:

There's probably some, you know okay. So you know, the NFL does an extensive background check before they write you a check. Yeah, every team does it. Every team has their own private investigators and things like that. And I'm just, I'm hoping the best for Bond, but they found something to not to pass on a talent like him. They found something in his past or something in his character that they just don't want to pull the trigger on. Yet Now he can. I mean, people change and things change and things like that. So somebody is going to get a first round talent for cheap, for so if he can oh, he's not, I don't know prove his innocence, he's not under investigation or anything like that, but prove that he's different from what they think they are. Somebody's going to get a great receiver for pennies, basically, yeah.

Speaker 3:

And we hope there's no legal issues for him or anyone. You know there was somebody leaked cell phone numbers. Isaiah Bonds was one of them. Some young college kids were playing pranks pretending to be representing the Atlanta Falcons and calling him, pretending to be. That's awful and I don't think there's any legal ramifications. But that's a horrible joke to play on anyone. I don't know. I thought that was absolute bullshit and it's not because he's a longhorn. I just think that's.

Speaker 3:

I'm all about jokes and sarcasm, but that's not something you do, because that's an individual's livelihood and what they've looked for. But I've got to tell you something, stevie. I got a question is texas becoming running back you? And I want to show you why. You know they call it dbu, with all the dbs in the league. But after this it's a legit question, a legit debate. So far on this drive it's been the rushing attack and here's Jay Blue. Blue threw him off the right edge Inside the 20, turning the Jets into the end zone. Touchdown. Jay Blue's fast and he's had to wait behind some great ones. Jaden Blue's fast and he's had to wait behind some great ones. Bijan, jonathan Brooks, you know Roshan all on NFL rosters. Jaden Blue do you see him being maybe a difference maker and also a steal in the fifth round. Could he make an impact with the Cowboys?

Speaker 4:

Definitely, he definitely could. This past season we played against some stellar defensive lines and he still did really well, I think, going into the league. I think that he has the vision and the speed to hit the edge and make something happen for an NFL team. I like this graphic that you put up, man, and that's absolutely true. I mean, all those guys are big time running backs at the University of Texas, but also continuing their careers in the league and they're doing very, very well in the league right now, especially Bijan. I love watching them play at Atlanta.

Speaker 3:

Three consecutive years. Five Longhorn running backs drafted Keylon I can't remember who took this photo, but it's beautiful During a game. Keylon Robinson, Roshon Johnson, jonathan Brooks I hope his knee gets healthy Now Jaden and then Bijan Five running backs drafted from the same university. Look at that. Three consecutive years with active running backs on the NFL roster or drafted. It's impressive man.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 3:

I mean, can you be DBU and RBU?

Speaker 4:

You can also be NFLU man. We got some defensive tackles out there right now. We got some offensive linemen out there right now. We got a lot of players in the league right now. I would love to know the statistics of how many players are in the league right now on active rosters right now that are. Is there more out there than the University of Texas? I'm sure there is, but I'm sure we're really high on that list.

Speaker 3:

It's obviously top ten. And you know a similar question, it's obviously top 10. And you know a similar question which college football program produced the most draft selections this year? And this is an interesting statistic. But Texas, obviously, if you think about it, clearly top three on this. But this may shock you a little bit Texas, with the 12 and the two teams that Texas faced this year Georgia twice Ohio State. Obviously, in the national semifinal, which in my opinion was the national championship game, ohio State had 14 drafted, georgia 13, Texas 12, followed by Oregon and Ole Miss. I mean it should come as no surprise the more NFL talent a program has, or that you develop into NFL caliber talent, the more success. I mean it's a simple correlation.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, you said at first that it may surprise. I'm not surprised. This is par for the course. I think that that's spot on. We could have had a couple more drafted, I think, but I think we could have been up there at 14. There was a couple of guys that got free agent deals that probably should have been drafted.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and those undrafted free agent contracts? I don't think anybody. I know it's disappointing at first for some, but the beauty of an undrafted free agency is you get to pick where you go depending upon the options presented to you, and that's, that's the beauty of being an undrafted free agent. It's going to be a little tougher, um, if, as far as training camp and and as you mentioned it earlier, that chip on your shoulder can go a long ways. All right, stevie Lee, this is not my grade. This is basically an average of three websites that I have seen that. Have the Dallas Cowboys got an A with their draft? Were you able to check out the Cowboys draft class?

Speaker 4:

Not all of it, I was just looking at the draft as a whole. But an A Listen, I'm here for it, do you know?

Speaker 5:

who gave him the.

Speaker 4:

A-minus.

Speaker 3:

It was. No worries.

Speaker 4:

I just think that an A-minus that's pretty high man. So you got to make some noise in the playoffs.

Speaker 3:

Well, you hate to give the Jerry Jones any credit. Well, you hate to give the Jerry Jones any credit, but maybe he allowed the team to do more than him just saying no, this is what I want to do. We're going to do it my way. But you know, they started off with Tyler Booker, the offensive lineman. That's a big get. You've got to replenish that O-line. It has a big turnover right now. And then the edge rusher from Boston Kyle is Donovan Ezaraku. I butchered that they need another edge on the side. Then they've got a corner, two running backs. Obviously, jaden Blue is one of them. Another two defensive linemen and they got that big running back from Clemson who was kind of banged up. So they got two running backs Jaden Blue and Phil Moffa, who played at Clemson Bruiser, get him healthy. He's going to be your short yardage guy.

Speaker 4:

Got you? Yeah, we got to see it, man, you know I'm tired of putting my hope into the Dallas Cowboys and then getting let down at the end of the season, so I'm going to just shut up and wait.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm going to shut up and detach my emotions for a third in the consecutive seasons.

Speaker 3:

Hey, the proof. You got to develop it and you got to stay healthy. Let's give them a break there. But you know, when we talk about the quarterbacks, there were 14 quarterbacks selected in this draft. Shador Sanders, I definitely want to. I don't know. I don't know, but here's the video. I thought this was a cool video edited before we really get into that. You know, he's Deion's son. He and Shallow Sanders, both on that Colorado Buffalo team, both expected to get drafted. Obviously, sador the higher-rated prospect man. He had to wait a long time and this was kind of the video of kind of documenting that. And Shiloh's the one kind of ribbing his brother right here. It's pretty funny.

Speaker 5:

I don't even know what they're going to do with me, bro, because they're doing you like this.

Speaker 1:

Making him wait. Oh, what Me? Oh you're good me.

Speaker 3:

Oh, you're good bro so it goes to the cleveland browns. Cleveland selected two quarterbacks. Um, this whole shador sanders I have a problem with. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but there were a lot of irresponsible opinions. What I mean by that? Going after saying, hey, franchises didn't want to deal with Dion Shador, had bad, reportedly had bad interviews during the sessions leading up to the draft, came after him, called him lazy, called him this and that. I think it's just a matter of which franchise was up and if that talent, that quarterback available or did they need a quarterback? Not all these franchises need a quarterback, they already have. And did these franchises see, in his case, was he a fit for their organization? You think I'm on to something there and if you disagree, it's fine. That's what's the beauty of it. We have different opinions and I'm not defending him. I'm just saying that I think this was more a matter of timeliness opposed to the individual and who his dad is.

Speaker 4:

Nah 100% disagree. This is who he is, the way he moves and who his daddy is 100%. So why Hold on? You turn a one and nine team around at Colorado into a bowl eligible team Two years straight. You take Jackson State and do what you did with them. Take Jackson State and do what you did with them. He did this stuff at Colorado with a terrible offensive line. Terrible he Shador Sanders is. You know, Cam Ward is great. I love watching him play Even Jalen Merrow here. He's good. But I can't see any other quarterbacks over Shador Sanders right now, Other than maybe Cam and Melro.

Speaker 4:

Okay, and for people saying that, he the baggage that come along. We're grown men, we're grown men, man. So you, what these GMs are telling me, the ones that took quarterbacks what these GMs are telling me is you can't handle the things that go on around the Sanders family, so you go and pick someone else, right? You're not adult enough to handle the things that goes around. And for me, it's just their personality, it's just them being 100% who they are. That's a sense of belonging. If you want me the way I am, I don't want to have to be a different person around you or your program.

Speaker 3:

That's what I mean. The right franchise. Is he or whoever, a good fit? That's my whole point. I don't know, man.

Speaker 4:

You don't have to worry about a fit in your program. Get the best talent. Just go get the best talent. He's not in legal trouble. He's not doing bad things, it's just the spotlight that's around him. If it's not anything illegal that he's doing, if it's not anything like they have a drug problem, is it? What is it that made you pass on him and take somebody like? You see the names on the list. Why would you take these guys over Shador? Is it something legal that he's dealing with? Is it something his physical talent shows us that he can play the game of football? But you are so tied up into the personality that you pass on him. That just doesn't make sense to me as a GM.

Speaker 3:

Well, yeah, I mean, that's my whole point is so there are five quarterbacks taken in the draft before Sador, before Sador, okay, 144th pick overall, and I'm just trying to figure out what exactly it is. What was out there, you know, and Tyler with the Saints. Yep. So why would the Browns take two quarterbacks in the same draft so close?

Speaker 4:

together. Yeah, because one, sanders fell to them and they actually made a trade to go get him Right. That's true, yep. And two, they got a little bit of a trade stock. I mean, I know it's a little bit late to where they got these guys, but there's some trade stock in there. You know, they go to training camp, someone quarterback goes down and they can trade Sadur or Dillon. Well, I don't think anybody's going to want to pick up the Sean Watson's contract, the fully guaranteed contract that he got, but they got some draft, I think, not draft stock, but some trade stock with that too. So I think they're thinking about the future. But Sadur Sanders, he's definitely. We talked about playing with a chip on your shoulder. I think that kid's going to play with a big chip on his shoulder. And to prove everyone wrong, he humbled himself. He came out and said maybe I did some things wrong through this draft process.

Speaker 3:

He lost some money, yeah.

Speaker 4:

And he said maybe I did something wrong. That's him humbling himself. And so y'all passed on a kid that actually said maybe I did something wrong. But thank God that I'm here now and I just got to go out there and show them what's wrong with that. What's wrong with a kid that says that, Like some other kid can say something like that, it's a learning moment?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, if that's what he means. I don't know him and I've never interacted with him, so I can't. I don't know him and I've never interacted with him, so I can't. I don't have an opinion, that is, again, I'm not belittling or coming after people with vitriol opinions. I just if you've never met a person or interviewed them or interacted with them and claim to know all these things, why put it out there?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah. The other thing is, I know we're talking about Shadur, but Melro people were talking about how he had a bad interview and said some other things. People, I think these GMs are getting in their own way right now. Just look at the film man, the eye in the sky don't lie. And they have NFL security, they have NFL mental health professionals. So I believe that people change and you can get people right mentally and with behavior adjustments and things like that. What you can't not pass on is the raw talent that's shown on the field, because you can't manufacture that. You can't manufacture behavioral issues and things like that. I agree, yeah.

Speaker 3:

That's just me, man. No, no, no, I get it and you know. And there's two FCS, one double a quarterbacks that were drafted, and then Curtis Rourke, the Canadian quarterback from Indiana, you know, in that great year they have, but the one that you know Texas fans had their eye on, I meaninn, was the last quarterback selected in the seventh and final round. I mean the look of relief on him when he was watching the draft of this family. To wait that long did you? Did you think it would take he would be selected that late, almost at the end of the draft.

Speaker 4:

I didn't think it was going to be at the end of the draft. I thought that he was a fourth, fifth round guy. Yeah, I was leaning towards more fourth round, but to go that far down that was tough, and for someone that put their team in the college football playoffs twice back to back.

Speaker 3:

And was not truly healthy. What was that? And not truly healthy either.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah. So that could be one of the issues, because he's never finished a full season. That's a good point, that's a good point he's never finished a full season. He's always been out at least two games. That right there is. That could play a big role in it, because as you get to the NFL, these dudes just get bigger and stronger. If you can't take a hit from the college guys, taking a hit from these faster, bigger NFL guys, maybe that's what they're putting into consideration, right.

Speaker 3:

So I would say I'm not guaranteeing, I'm not putting money on it. I would venture to say almost all of the quarterbacks on the left side, they'll be on the roster. The quarterbacks on the right side, they'll be on the roster. The quarterbacks on the right side are not guaranteed spots on the roster. They've got to earn it and prove their worth at OTAs, which starts soon and then training camp.

Speaker 3:

But you've also got to prove your value of what else you bring to an organization, and that's the hard part. For someone like Quinn, nothing's guaranteed here. One thing that Steve Sarkeesian did say yesterday he did say something to the effect and I may be a little off on this that Quinn turned down NIL money from the Texas NIL collective to not transfer and to hand the keys over to Arch so he could go pursue his NFL dreams. He did not take NIL money recently.

Speaker 4:

So you're saying that they offered him NIL money to go away?

Speaker 3:

Well, no, you've got to go read it and listen to how he said it, but I think it was toward the end of the season or the end of last year. He didn't accept, he didn't take any more NIL money.

Speaker 4:

Well, the other interesting storyline about this is, you know, he did have another year of eligibility and he did have a. He was eligible to transfer. Right, he could have gone somewhere else and gotten some NIL money, but chose to go to the draft draft Do we talk about. Was that a good move? Go and make another, whatever someone was going to pay you in college, and then try to improve your draft stock for 2026 draft. Or go out right now and get this seven round pick, you know. Financial he's set.

Speaker 3:

But those guys on the right, the amount of money they're guaranteed or signing bonuses or whatnot, they're probably making more in college at their NIL deal. In college, at their NIL deal, For guys like Will Howard, Riley Leonard, maybe Curtis Rourke and definitely Quinn Ewers were making more, but the other guys probably not. Nil is not as significant at some, like you know, the lower, non-Power 4 school Power 5.

Speaker 4:

But as far as he wanted to leave his legacy here or maybe that's the narrative that that he was wants to paint- yeah, the other thing that I thought about in this draft too is um, golly, you know, there was a lot of kids that slipped and and kind of a lot, a lot of them that that that was projected here and and is just doing this right here, and so what we need to also look at is the quality of agents that are out there representing these kids, because yours should have known that he was going to drop like that and, I'm sorry, the defense of Indiana, texas, that went Barron. Barron should have known, through research, through his agency, where he was going to be, you know, so he can prepare draft day accordingly Right, correct, you know what I'm saying. Like Shador should have had an agent to know. What are they saying about me? What do I need to work on and what do I need to do in these interviews?

Speaker 4:

You know there's you have to seek counsel. I mean, that's biblical. You know you have to seek counsel and you have to seek the correct counsel. You know this is a huge decision. Nfl teams have tons of people in and the pro days on campus, you know. So, for me, we, the way this draft worked out, we actually need to look at what these NFL agents are actually doing out there for these kids.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's also organizational. Each organization, you know some, have former NFL players who are in their front office. I mean they evaluate, they give reports. There's a staff of people I mean Deuce Vaughn's dad, chris Vaughn, is on the Cowboys staff, or was, I think he still is.

Speaker 3:

That total job is to scout and evaluate, watch film, produce reports like we do in our jobs, produce reports, analysis, thorough investigation, thorough information, and to apply that information towards their needs in their football operations. And to your point, what you said earlier, it's a thorough background check and you know people are not perfect. Can those imperfections align with that organization's culture, so to speak? No shot on, like Baron Sorrell, I don't know why. Maybe they saw limitations on his contribution. Is he just a third down type guy? Is he just a pass rush? Is he not what we need against the run? I don't know, I don't know. I don't know that answer. But yeah, you bring up some really truly valid points. So, man, good job, stevie, on the feedback.

Speaker 3:

Wrapping up the draft, one guy that was drafted in 1998, calling the X-Man, jeremiah trotter this was him on the top, with his uh, I think his second stint or third stint with the eagles and when they had a great team and then on the bottom was last year. He has two sons, jeremiah jr play at clemson, picked up by the phil, which where Trotter is beloved, and we all know what last year's Philadelphia team did. This is pretty cool, woo.

Speaker 1:

It's off.

Speaker 3:

Congratulations, man. How cool is that? Holding Jeremiah Jr in his arms. So I went back to Nacogdoches, to my alma mater, stephen F Austin, this past weekend and shout out to Colby Carthel, the head coach, vip alumni of this podcast. Well, jeremiah Trotter is now a VIP alumni. We had a really cool NIL fundraising dinner at Homer Bryce Stadium at Stephen F. Jeremiah Trotter is now a VIP alumni. We had a really cool NIL fundraising dinner at Homer Bryce Stadium at Stephen F Jeremiah Trotter, xavier Gibson, who plays with the Chiefs, and Larry Centers and two other guys who are on active rosters. Great night, great conversation, and Trotter and I. Before the spring game this past Saturday we had a conversation and it's on episode 460. It's a good quick episode, 15 minutes in length, and you know, jeremiah Trotter has a younger son who just transferred to Missouri. He's also a linebacker and it'll be cool if you have two Trotters in that legacy in the NFL. Hey, we're going to speed things up before we take a break. There's a lot of grocery shaking in that Round Rock Express dugout.

Speaker 3:

We'll be right back man, man hamstrings pulled by both of us yeah, absolutely man.

Speaker 4:

But but let me say this about round rock uh, express, it's fun out there. It's a lot of fun. I, I love going to the day games. If I, if I find a day game I don't have much to do for work I'll head over there grab a beer, sit behind home plate for 12 bucks. I mean, you can't beat it, man. It's a lot of fun and you can see some talent out there, man. Sometimes those guys coming off of IR are playing here in Round Rock and they get called back up to the big leagues, man. So it's fun, it's a lot of fun out there.

Speaker 3:

Texas Rangers AAA franchise. They're this close to the big show. A lot of great talent, all those World Series teams. A lot of those guys played in Round Rock Go back to 2009, 2010. You know, they went through even when they were the Astros affiliate. A lot of those guys came through Round Rock. It is fun. It's a great venue, great staff Chris Almond-Daris, tim Jackson.

Speaker 4:

I saw Al Tuve come and play here.

Speaker 3:

Yep, he's shorter than me. We don't see eye to eye. I love that, I love that. But Altuve, yeah, good talent. He's nearing the end, but Houston's still hanging in there. Hey, I've got a. There's a lot of sweeping, a sweeping segment, and segment two got to get Stevie's takes on the NBA playoffs, particularly one team. I'm not biased, I promise. And those fighting Jim Schlossnagels say two words Poor Aggies, yeah, man, poor Aggies, we'll man, poor Aggies, we'll see you on the other side of this break and after this message from our partners at Hargrove Roofing, stevie Lee with the straight face acting.

Speaker 6:

Here at Hargrove Roofing we try to think outside the box, to kind of get the creative juices flowing. So I brought in my friend Stevie Lee, former defensive tackle for the Texas Longhorns. He's going to help the team strategize, really motivate them. Light a fire.

Speaker 4:

This guy's going to block down. This guy's going to block down. You put your butt into the guard and that way my Mike linebacker gets free to do what.

Speaker 6:

Not only are they going to learn a thing or two, but they're going to also leave with a great attitude and a bunch of smiles on their faces.

Speaker 3:

I'm sorry. What does this have to do with roofing exactly?

Speaker 1:

Get out Right now.

Speaker 5:

I said get out.

Speaker 6:

For me, that's what it's all about. It's just having fun making our employees have a great time. Hargrove Roofing know who's on your roof? Okc, okc, okc, okc, okc.

Speaker 3:

That's fine Thunder up, let's go, baby hey. Best environment in the association that all started in 2009 or 10 those fans. They communicate through a private facebook page, and when, though, when that team comes back from a road playoff game day or night, it could be three in the morning they're there behind that fence every time the team returns.

Speaker 4:

Yeah yeah, that's a lot of fun when, it being a small market team, they pour a lot. The fans pour a lot into that team there. Man, I was thinking about that. This weekend I was in Salt Lake City, which is considered another small market team but everyone had jazz stuff on. It felt like being in Oklahoma City. Everyone is the thunder, thunder down everything man.

Speaker 3:

Thunder down.

Speaker 4:

Yeah or thunder up. What do they say? That's cool for them. I have a client on the team at OKC and I gave him a congrats. He gave me a thumbs up after that, so it's fun for them to go on to the next round and to get some rest right now.

Speaker 3:

Let's bring that client into the man cave.

Speaker 4:

We can try. We can try. But those guys, they have to get money to come in right, but but here's the deal.

Speaker 3:

Sam presti, the gm of the thunder incredible. He comes from the spurs organization, which is tight yeah, they don't allow many, and even when I was in the media in OKC, we had availabilities Shoot around at the facility and then before and after the game for a short window. Stuff like this is hard to come by. I asked Sean Fresh, I'll ask you. Okc clearly the best team in the league in the regular season.

Speaker 3:

Can they hold up and get past this opponent In the Western Semis and In the Western Finals and yank it to the NBA Finals.

Speaker 4:

I don't know. It's too tight for me, man. There's some good teams in the West. There's also some good teams In the East. I think this next round Is going to be a real tough round, man.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Real tough. I mean they had the most double-digit wins this season. The Thunder, they're fun to watch.

Speaker 6:

They are.

Speaker 3:

I highly encourage people to go to OKC, go to the Thunderdome, now known as Paycom, the Paycom Arena, and it is so much fun on Reno Avenue before a game and in midtown. Go to OKC and get you some of that. You'll be glad that I mentioned it All. Right, Stevie, I never doubted Jim Slosnago. I never doubted this program and his assistants, Max Wiener, Nolan Cain, that entire staff, what they've done.

Speaker 3:

Texas is doing things above any expectation right now Number one in the country, 37-5 overall, but listen to this 19-2 in the SEC, a five-game lead over Arkansas, with three SEC series remaining at Arkansas this week at home against Florida, and then they close out the regular season at Oklahoma. Okay, SEC is the creme de la creme of college baseball. Texas lost their top gun pitcher last week a soreness, and he's going to have to have surgery. He's done Perhaps top three pitchers in the country. What did they do?

Speaker 3:

A&m had a horrible, shitty start to their season, yeah, but they have quickly ascended and got things on track and they're a pretty good baseball team. Texas swept A&M at the dish. All three games decided by one run, and when you figure out a way to win those close games, that's something within your team but sweeping the Aggies. That's why you saw that celebration. It's a little different because you beat what they call and I got to give the Texas baseball social media team. They recap the team victory over the series, win the sweeping of A&M and it says check out this episode of Little Brother or Big Brother.

Speaker 4:

That's good stuff, man. I told you earlier, man, that these Aggies are doing something special. I mean I'm sorry stuff, man. I told you earlier, man, that these Aggies are doing something special. I mean I'm sorry. Oh wow, these Longhorns are doing something special, man. But it always feel good to beat the Aggies, man, just to beat up on the Aggies. Now, we knew that the Aggies were going to come in with a chip on their shoulder because we got their coach and they played their hearts out. Trying to beat Big Brother, and Big Brother was like hold my beer, Let me show y'all something. So it was fun, that was fun and I'm happy that these guys got that series win, series sweep. But that was just for fun. The real, real action is about to happen, in a couple weeks when we get into postseason play.

Speaker 3:

Well, I would venture to say this weekend is going to be very real at Arkansas, where you're hated, and it's a long-standing rivalry in baseball. Arkansas traditionally has been good for a long time.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I mean dating. These two used to play for Southwest Conference Championships forever. I still remember 87, the winner of that series on the last series of the year won the conference championship.

Speaker 4:

There you go.

Speaker 3:

So they've got a lot. It's going to get tougher. Right now, texas would be the number one overall seed if the postseason started today. I still don't think the SEC tournament, which is a big deal in Hoover, alabama, I don't think that conference tournament was going to mean much for Texas. Gotcha TikTok in the man cave I discovered this lady she's 90 years old and her daughter documents video of taking her mom everywhere and she rides her daughter hardcore. This is this is just a sample. This is thorough entertainment. Good 38 seconds of entertainment right here.

Speaker 1:

I need a Bloody Mary. After spending 30 minutes with you, I need hard liquor. Well, you know, let me just get a bottle of whiskey and I'll drink out of it. I love you dearly, but you act like you're naughty. You're an old, decrepit old woman and you're in the prime of your life. You ought to be somewhere dancing. You're never like cheering and I am too cheery. You had that colonoscopy the other day. I was hoping they'd take that damn stick out of your ass while you were up there on the thing getting done. I mean you, mom, I don't stick. Yeah, you got to stick up your a.

Speaker 4:

Sometimes mom knows best man.

Speaker 3:

She does, mom's always know best.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

The funny thing, stevie, what caught my attention when I first saw? That that woman's voice sounded just like Mama C.

Speaker 4:

Really.

Speaker 3:

And they say similar things to me when I'd be driving Mama C Really. And they say similar things to me when I'd be driving Mama C around.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's funny, that's good Good stuff, man.

Speaker 3:

Get on my ass. She goes shut up. I don't want to hear it. You remember I'm your mother. I need a margarita, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Hey man, Tell me something good.

Speaker 3:

Arguably the best part of the show for some. I know, I know these get a little long sometimes, but it's worth it, man, to see these beautiful smiles, especially the guy on the right. But hey, we're going to uplift you. Tell me something good, my brother.

Speaker 4:

Man, I'm going to take it back. I'm going to take it to my experience that I had this weekend. My daughter has her last club volleyball tournament this weekend. It was nationals. It was the 18s nationals In her division. They finished top five in the country. Hats off to her. Love what she's doing. She's gotten her tuition paid for for college. That's so nice. This is great. The tournament was in Salt Lake City. I spent some time in Salt Lake City, guys. I spent some time in Salt Lake City, guys. This is a beautiful place up there. I guess this is my recommendations too. But if you got any kind of time and looking at doing a vacation in the States, salt Lake City, utah is a beautiful place. It's so picturesque. Everywhere you look is snow-capped mountains. We drove up to Park City to hang out, love Main Street, park City, and then we drove up the mountain to St Regis to have dinner. How?

Speaker 1:

long was that drive.

Speaker 4:

From Salt Lake to St Regis or from Salt Lake to Park City. It was like 30, 40 minutes.

Speaker 3:

Is it a hairy drive up the mountain?

Speaker 4:

No, it's a beautiful drive up the mountain Beautiful, yeah. You're passing through mountains and some farmland and some cool golf courses out there. It's just really pretty man, it's beautiful. So something good. We live in a country where there's different landscapes around, but this is a cool place.

Speaker 4:

Get out, enjoy, experience America I have through my kids volleyball and through football and the things I've done, but I was always sleeping on Salt Lake City, utah. Don't do that. Get out there and go, don't do it. Don't do it, man. It's fun, it was fun. The people are nice. They say it's like Mormon country and I guess it is. But you don't feel all that. You just feel just people just being really nice to you in Salt Lake. Then, going up to Park City, everyone's still nice, good people are all around and just beautiful. You can just take a picture and make a painting on your wall anywhere in Salt Lake or Park City.

Speaker 3:

It should be on a canvas. You see those beautiful photos. I'm with you, I'm all. Whenever I travel or or even here in austin area, I always try to find, on the weekends especially try to find a moment in nature, but mine's going to be quick. Uh, kind of alluded to it.

Speaker 3:

Um, east texas is very special to me, uh, because when I I was born and raised in Austin but I wanted to get at least four hours away from home to go to college, I chose the right place and for so long when I got into the media I was not able to go back. So when I moved back to Austin and to Texas since late 2012, I've been able to go back over there and I had a full weekend. It was SFA spring football weekend, all those guys from those teams, and then we had a there's a new administration there, leadership, and then I had my fraternity alumni weekend and golf and all that. I don't know. I'll just tell you, man, it really hit my heart because I just realized sometimes we take those things for granted and to be able to go somewhere like that.

Speaker 3:

And on the way back I stopped at a place called Ratcliffe Lake. I was driving through the woods. Basically, this highway goes right through the forest, a national forest. I went to Ratcliffe Lake. It took about a 30-minute hike on my way back home to Austin there you go.

Speaker 3:

Absolutely stunning. It almost looks like untouched land and I could hear the echoes of unknown wildlife just echoing through the timbers. And it's what I needed. And little things like that are the trickling of water. I'm going deep. But man, you're right, Go see that nature.

Speaker 3:

America has a lot to offer and go see it, brother. It has been fun, as always. So, to Stevie Lee and his beautiful family, and to the Hargroves out of Shreveport and in Texas, and to my alma mater, college alma mater hometown, nacogdoches, texas, and to my beautiful hometown, austin, Texas, and wherever you're listening and watching, thank you, we love you, we really appreciate you. And to everybody who has stood behind and supported us in this podcasting journey. Man, much love to you and to everyone. Have a beautiful rest of your week, shoot us a tweet, send us some love, man, and be with Stevie as he and his lovely wife Summer are watching their girls grow up too fast. And to the OG man Cave boys, that being Harbaugh Hards, big Mike and the coach, what do we tell them? Stevie Lee?

Speaker 6:

We out.

Speaker 1:

You see the drip and I'm fitted up, I'm in my car in a Gideon I said get out.
